(NP) Staff Reporter D I M A P U R , N ov 2 6 (NPN): Ao Kaketshir Telongjem Dimapur (AKTD) organised its 43rd general conference cum 12th excellency award on Saturday here at Saku’s Mission College Auditorium on the theme “Sobaliba aser Terenlok (Culture and Progress)”with secretary DUDA Senti Ao as special guest speaker. Speaking at the conference, Senti emphasised on the theme “Culture and Progress” and said “we always tend to think in terms of tradition and modernity as two water tight compartments.” He remarked such type of thinking was not only in Nagaland but in Asia Minor also since we

were all under European power in the past. Senti lamented that we have learned the eating and drinking habits, dressing style etc. from the Europeans fallaciously accepting advancement, modernisation and westernisation as progress and forgot our tradition and

culture. He asserted that there was no dearth of gifts and talent and urged the participants to make use of their talent instead of just looking out for government jobs. The guest speaker further encouraged the youths to strive hard not only to

be self-sufficient but work hard to create employment opportunities for others also. The cash and certificate award recipients were Lanuchetla Longchar d/o Longkumtoshi Longchar, from Nokpu Village, Tongpangtangla d/o Senlemmeren from Changtongya Village, Naroenla d/o T. Sashi Ao from Sungratsu Village and Limayangla Longkumer d/o Merenungsang from Changtongya Village. Imtijungla d/o Sashi Walling from Sungratsu Village, Lanumongba Imchen s/o Rev. T. Ariba Imchen from Longkhum Village, Akumsenla Jamir d/o Imtilepzuk from Chuchuyimpang Village, Meyisunep s/o Lipokkaba from Chuchuyimlang Village, Mongyanger s/o Atu Longkumer from Waromong Village, Pangerremla d/o Bendan-

gmeren from Changdang Top and Arenjungla Pongen d/o Tinu Pongen from Chuchuyimlang Village received certificates during the function. Further new team of AKTD officials were also elected. The new team would be led by Lanutoshi Aier as president, Moayanger Jamir as secretary along with 29 others as executive and committee members and 3 advisors. Earlier the programme was chaired by AKTD office bearers, welcome address by president L.Bendang Jamir, invocation by DABA mission director, Limaakum, special song was presented by sub-units of Unity and Diphupar B, special presentation by Aoyimti sub-unit, exhortation by committee convenor Akummeren Pongen and benediction by Indisen youth director Lima Jamir.

KABA CARE cleans Kma

Volunteers cleaning the street on Saturday. DIMAPUR: Kohima Ao Baptist Arogo Creating Awareness for Restoration of Environment (KABA CARE) has been continuously making a stride towards a greener and cleaner Kohima and in line with this KABA CARE organised a cleanliness drive from Lerie colony to High School area and from Paramedical junction to TCP gate on Saturday. Each of the 7 fellowships under KABA was specifically assigned an area to be cleaned. KABA volunteers picked up trashes, waste, cleared overgrown bushes beside the highway

and cleaned clogged drainages. KABA CARE committee comprising leaders from respective fellowships were overseers of the drive. They also distributed trash bags and sanitary gloves before the drive. The aim of the drive was to keep the streets clean and at the same time create awareness among the denizens of Kohima about the tire need to sustain our future through greener means. KABA while expressing gratitude to all the volunteers has called upon every individual to upkeep neatness and quality sanitation.

Prayer walk: claiming Kohima back to God

DIMAPUR: NBCC general secretary Rev. Dr. Zelhou Keyho has called upon all Christians in Kohima regardless of church affiliations and denominations to participate in the Prayer Walk organised jointly by NBCC and Kohima Baptist Pastors Fellowship on December 1 from 4:30-6 a.m at different locations in the city. In a press note, Rev. Dr. Keyho appealed to those willing to be part of praying to converge to the nearest designated “Prayer Points” on December 1. “Let this be a time for Kohima dwellers to confess and repent to claim God’s

power over our lives, individually and corporately. Let us make assigned hours on this day to cry to God for revival and healing. The power is in the prayer!” Rev. Dr. Keyho’s message read. The designated Prayer Points are Lerie Junction, Pr. Hill, Phulbari, Raju Point, Tin-Pati, High School Junction, and New Secretariat Junction. Further, Pastors will be assigned with prayer Coordinators to lead in prayer as believers congregate and all have been requested to bring the hymn “Onward Christian soldiers marching as to war” in their own dialect.

LSWDA brotherhood fellowship

Dimapur: Lazami Social Welfare Dimapur Area (LSWDA) has convened Khezhakeno- lazami brotherhood fellowship programme on November 30, at 10 a.m. in Lazami village. All members have been requested to reach faith petrol pump, 5th mile Dimapur on November 3O, at 4 a.m. to proceed to the village dressed in traditional attire.
