Mumbai, May 31 (PTI): Ending months of speculation, I-League champions Bengaluru FC announced today that it has parted ways with its successful head coach Ashley Westwood “by mutual consent”. The severing of ties between the club, winners of the I-League crowns twice in the last three years as well as the Federation Cup once (in 2014), has brought to an end “a successful three-year association”, the club said in a media statement from Bengaluru. “The Blues have also made the quarterfinals of the AFC Cup this season under Westwood and will look to go a step further when the continental competition resumes in September,” said the release, referring to the club’s 3-2 win over Kitchee of Hong Kong under the guidance of Westwood. “The Englishman was at the helm of affairs since the club’s inception in 2013 where the Blues went on to stun Indian football by winning the I-League in its debut season. 2014 too was a successful season where Bengaluru won the Federation Cup, finished second in the League and made the knock-out stages in the AFC Cup,” the club said in its statement.

Rashford, Sturridge 2nd SUMMER SUPER SIX named in England Date : 9 & 10 June 2016 Venue : High School Ground, Kohima Champion : 8000/- Runner’s up : 4000/Euro squad L o n d o n, M ay 3 1 (Agencies): Marcus Rashford and Daniel Sturridge have been named in England’s Euro 2016 squad with Danny D r i n k wa t e r a n d A n d r o s Townsend missing out. England boss Roy Hodgson has opted for five strikers in his 23-man party for the tournament in France after Manchester United’s Rashford, 18, made an immediate impact by scoring on his international debut against Australia last Friday. There had been speculation that Liverpool forward Sturridge, who has been hampered by injury problems this season, could miss out as a result, but Leicester midfielder Drinkwater and Newcastle winger Townsend have been omitted instead. The pair will therefore follow Manchester City’s Fa b i a n D e l p h , w h o wa s dropped from the provisional 26-man squad due to a groin injury last week, in leaving the England training camp. England play Portugal at Wembley on Thursday in their final warm-up game before heading to their French training base in Chantilly. They open their Euro 2016 Group B campaign with a match against Russia in Marseille on Saturday June 11 before taking on Wales in Lens on Thursday June 16 and Slovakia in Saint-Etienne on Monday June 20.
