13 beneficiaries get loan under MEC MIF

MOKOKCHUNG, JUL 5 (NPN): Under the 10th phase of micro loan distribution of Mokokchung Entrepreneurs Consortium Micro Finance Initiative (MEC MIF), 13 beneficiaries were sanctioned loan in the presence of ADC Mokokchung and administrator Mokokchung Municipal Council (MMC), Bendanglila at MMC conference hall here on Tuesday. According to MEC MIF chairman Tsukti Longkumer, so far a total of 133 entrepreneurs have been benefitted under the scheme. H e s a i d M E C wa s founded, with initial financial

patronage from the state government, by a few likeminded entrepreneurs from different trades in Mokokchung, to financially aid and assist the struggling co-entrepreneurs. Tsukti said that loan distribution was carried out in tune with the loan clearance in a phase wise manner. He requested the loanees to repay their loans in due time, so that the next batch could avail the benefits of MEC. At the same time, he also cautioned the guarantees that they should not regard themselves as mere witness, since they would bear the burden of repaying for the sake of his/her default beneficiary (loanee). SAYO appeals to trekkers DIMAPUR: Southern Angami Youth Organization (SAYO) has appealed to all trekkers to cooperate and strictly adhere to rules and regulations while visiting Dzukou valley. In a press note, president SAYO Tepupal Rote and general secretary, Viraseto Neikha, stated that SAYO encourage and welcome all trekkers, to enjoy the beauty of Dzukou valley. However, during inspection, SAYO stated it was “pained to witness many flaws on some trekker plucking flowers, collecting medicinal plants, littering the place with wastages, broken bottles and defecating everywhere etc, spoiling the natural beauty which are totally against the norms and conducts projected by the organization for the welfare of the valley and trekkers.” SAYO said it was shocked to witness the “over use of illegal substances” such as drugs and alcohol by trekkers. According to SAYO, a drug user was reportedly found lying semiconscious on the foothill and 10 capsules of Spasmo Proxivon(SP), talap etc were found in his possession. In this regard, the youth organization has appealed to all responsible trekkers to cooperate with the organization and strictly abide by the rules and regulations framed for the place. It further warned that defaulters would be penalized in accordance to the codes enacted by the organization.

DIMAPUR: Vivela Club, Kohima organized summer camp for children of the club as well as the children of other organization from June 30 to July 3, 2016 at Japhu Phiki Kruna School, Souba Colony, Viswema. Apart from the daily routine of the camp which included sports, Yoga, cultural activities, village visit etc, the children were also exposed to various topics by the resource persons daily. Condolences for late Isak Chishi Swu

KSC: Kohima Sur umi community (KSC), Kohima has deeply mourned the demise of Asu Isak Chishi Swu. KSC described late Swu as a man who had strived hard for the greater good and sacrificed his whole life for the cause of the Naga freedom movement. Awareness prog on harmful effects of tobacco in Phek

DIMAPUR: Awareness and sensitization programme on the harmful effects of tobacco was conducted at Kiddies Corner School (KCS), Phek on July 5. The event was organized by National Tobacco Control Program (NTCP) Phek with district nodal officer Dr. Reyosalü Lase Vizo as resource person. Dr. Reyosalü sensitized the students on tobacco and

its harmful effects on consumption. She also informed the students that sales of tobacco products to or by persons below the age of 18 years was a punishable offence. The students were also imparted awareness on the two forms of tobacco, where she informed that Nagaland has the highest percentage of consumption of smokeless tobacco and ranks 2nd in to-

bacco consumption. She further sensitized the students and teachers that sales of cigarettes and other tobacco products in an area within the radius of 100 yards of the institution was a punishable offence. Altogether 66 students from class 9 and 10 and teachers attended the programme, where leaflets on the harmful effects of tobacco were handed out.
