Talking to Nagaland Post, Nzanmongi informed that her research paper, “investigates the possibilities of offering tourists insight into the impact of human beings on environment and in fostering a greater appreciation of our natural habitats. It also explores the different responsible eco-tourism programmes and ways to minimize the negative aspects of conventional tourism on the environment and seeks to develop a sustainable model that will promote energy-efficient economic opportunities and enhance bio-cultural diversity.” Nzanmongi further opined that “some of the furthest corners of Nagaland, especially along the borders, are unfazed by the modern developmental activities, and thus, could provide a perfect destination for tourists looking to experience the rich cultural heritage of the Nagas while exploring nature in its peaceful habitat based on mutual co-existence.”

SRF banned from Phom area DIMAPUR: Invoking the “Shopilak Declaration 2016” during the 15th ENSF Federal Assembly on June 28 and the resolution adopted in the joint consultative meeting with Sovereign Republic of Freeland (SRF) and ENPO on July 7, Phom Students’ Conference (PSC) has “strictly prohibited” SRF to set up its base/camp, hoisting of SRF flag nor allow any citizen of Phom to be a member of SRF within Phom jurisdiction. In a press note, PSC president, Hongkam D. Ngoyen and general secretary, Lungchem, while banning SRF from its jurisdiction, warned individuals, be it Phom or any other tribe, trying to convinve people of Phom to join SRF would be dealt seriously without any hesitation and questioning. It said PSC would take its own course of action as per the resolution of ENPO and ENSF. Further, PSC directed all the village councils and its federating units to take initiative to make Sovereign Republic of Freeland members denounce membership of SRF along with their ID cards in order to uphold the people’s mandate.

NPRAAF appeals DIMAPUR: Nagaland Public Rights Awareness and Action Forum (NPRAAF) has appealed the Nagaland Information Commission (NIC) to fix date for the next hearing at the earliest on the issue of non-furnishing of full and final report of High Powered Committee by the PIO Home Department on illegal and multiple taxations. In a press note, information and publicity cell, NPRAAF, informed that it attended a hearing called by NIC in Kohima on June 16 in connection with a complaint lodged by NPRAAF against the PIO Home Department for not furnishing the full and final report of High Powered Committee on Illegal and Multiple Taxations. Officials from the Home Department, Political Branch were also present during the hearing, it added. Nagaland Public Rights Awareness and Action Forum stated that, however, the NIC had “decided to reserve its decision for further clarification in the next hearing which shall be notified later.” Appealing for early hearing in the case, Nagaland Public Rights Awareness and Action Forum maintained that the issue of illegal and multiple/unabated taxation was of public importance outweighing any harm to the protected interests of the state government as well as the NIC.
