and volunteers led by its secretary, Sanjay Sethi visited St. Joseph’s Children Home at United North Block ‘B’ Dimapur on the occasion of India’s Republic Day. DCCI team distributed fruits and eatables to the orphans and destitute children and interacted with them. DDLSA: As part of its legal awareness campaign, the Dimapur District Legal Services Authority (DDLSA) manned a stall at the 68th Republic Day celebration at the DDSC stadium to interact with the public attending the program. The team headed by secretary DDLSA, Ajongba Imchen and Chief Judicial Magistrate, Dimapur, answered queries and distributed literature on legal topics to the attendees. The team also visited the district jail where conditions were assessed and legal servicers extended to the inmates. SSP: Sainik School Punglwa (SSP), celebrated Republic Day with principal of the school. Gp Capt Sanjay Gaekwad as the chief guest and unfurled the tri-colour and reviewed the parade. NCC cadets of Sainik School Punglwa performed a full ceremonial parade. Cdt Aboka M Kinimi and Cdt Suraj Kumar gave a speech in English and Hindi respectively. Drill competition was held amongst the six mother houses, wherein Patkai House secured the first position. Also, in the morning one contingent comprising of 31 NCC Cadets of Nagaland Sainik School (Independent) Coy participated in the Republic Day parade held at Peren district headquarters. KVK Mon: Krishi Vigyan Kendra Mon celebrated Republic Day at Aboi, local ground with parliamentary secretary for Art & Culture Eshak Konyak as chief guest. Zakhama: Mass Band Display was organized by the Indian Army to commemorate Republic day for civil populace and school children residing in the vicinity of Zakhama at Loyola School playground on January 24 with DC Kohima, Rajesh Soundararajan as the chief guest. The mass band display started with the opening address followed by various rhythms played by the display team. 32 Assam Rifles: On the occasion of Republic Day, 32 Assam Rifles (AR) under the aegis of 6 Sector AR/ HQ IGAR (N) visited orphanages and children homes at various places in Dimapur. The Mahila Contingent marched on the tunes of the Pipe Band of 3(Naga Hills) AR Battalion, the oldest of the AR Batallions. NVWA: Naga Voluntary Women Association (NVWA) on the occasion of Republic Day celebration visited the Spastic Society of Nagaland at Kohima. Kevi Rangkau, president, NVWA
said that the visit was to show their love and concern for the differently abled children on the auspicious day of the Republic day celebration. The association donated cash and gifts hampers were given to all the participating children and parents present at the function. General secretary NWVA Kakheli Jakhalu stated that the objective of the association was to do charity work in every fields. Dr. Nandira of Spastic society talked about the current practices and narrative with regard to ‘children with special needs.’ Bano Z. Jamir in her short speech said that the center was going to celebrate 25 year of its existence this year. KPC: Members of the Kohima Press Club (KPC) visited the Kripa Foundation Centre Kohima on the occasion of Republic Day on Thursday. Kripa Kohima director, Abou Mere shared brief history of Kripa Foundation established in 1981 to cater rehabilitation services to alcoholics and substance abusers. KPC president Xavier Rutsa delivered a brief speech on the occasion. Two Kripa clients shared their struggles with alcohol and addiction and their journey to recovery. Kripa Centre Kohima currently houses 29 patients. KPC donated some essential items to the facility on the occasion. IRCS Mokokchung: Members of Indian Red Cross Society, Mokokchung Branch during Republic Day visited patients at Dr Imkongliba Memorial Dist Hospital, Mokokchung Chest & TB Hospital, & Woodlands Nursing Home donating trays of eggs to patients. NNC (Naga Chiefs): On the occasion of Republic Day, Nagaland Motorcycle Club (Naga Chiefs) visited the Galilee Home for children (Orphanage) located at Chumukedima. The members interacted with the children as well as donated some money to orphanage. NMC undertakes such charitable works as its social responsibility program every year on Republic Day.
