he much awaited four th edition of Dimapur Night carnival, 2016 commenced Wednesday, at Naga shopping arcade, Dimapur. Inaugural programme of the carnival was graced by parliamentary secretary of Tourism, C. Apok Jamir as chief guest. He was accompanied by DCCI president Hokivi Chishi along with the organizing committee led by Piper Band Retreat from 32 Assam Rifle and Home guard. Speaking at the carni-
val, chief guest in his speech lauded the convenor and the organizing committee of the programme which came into being in the year 2013, to commemorate 50 years of Naga statehood. Pointing out the enthusiasm and energy of the carnival, he said that it rightly showed the popularity of the carnival. Jamir maintained that the organizing committee has not only showcased the carnival for the people to enjoy alone but has created a platform for all talented
youngsters to showcase their talent, merchandise and entrepreneurship. He hoped that through the carnival Naga people would be able to propagate the unity and diversity that India has always propagated. He said that through the participation of all section of society, different tribes and community would come together and enjoy the festivity. Focussing on the recently concluded Hornbill festival, he related that the carnival would also reflect the enthusiasm and the
festive spirit that the Nagas have and uphold the name of Nagaland know as “Land of festival�. Jamir further extended warm Christmas greetings to one and all. The programme also highlighted raffle draw result. More than 300 stalls were set up for games as well as displaying various food, gifts and decorations items. Various artists also performed at the programme mesmerizing the gathering with their performances.
Hundreds of visitors thronged around the stalls at the inaugural night. The programme started from 6 p.m. onwards. The carnival has been jointly organized by the district administration and the business community like Dimapur District Chamber of Commerce and Industries, Business Association of Nagas and East Dimapur Business Association (EDBA), including Purana Bazaar area and NSA association members (Staff Reporter)

ight contestants were selected during the first auditions of Karaoke Night, organized by ADJ Production Team at De Orientel Hotel, Dimapur, Monday. Mega audition for the event would be held on December 17 at the same venue from 1 p.m onwards. ADJ team has invited all the singers and dancers, whether in the solo, duet or group category for the competition. The show is being organized with the main motive of promoting the talents of the upcoming young generation in Nagaland. While everyone would get their due chance to showcase their talents, the final winners would be based on their performance and the decision of the judges. n December 12, NEZCC amphitheatre was filled with families, friends, wellwishers & music lovers to witness the first winter recital of Musik-A (Alobo Naga School of music). Once the show started, it went full on without a glitch or a break. The audience was mesmerized and spell bound by the performances till the end. One of the attractions of the night was the 45 member children choir aged 4-12 performing songs from Andrew Llyod Webber’s Les Miserables, Whistle in the wind, etc later joined the senior choir & the whole cast for the famous rendition of “Don’t stop believing “ from GLEE in the 60 minutes recital. It comprised music from baroque, classical to contemporary era. Guest artistes like Asin Shurhozelie, Colored Keys, Aloke Yepthomi shared the stage with the students performing songs from The Phantom of the opera, Glee, Les Miserables and latest songs from Adele, Sam Smith, Chain Smokers etc. along with Guitar ensemble, drum ensemble & piano recitals.
