VK area bodies apprehend 2 NSCN (R) cadres Correspondent
ZUNHEBOTO, AUG 24 (NPN): The joint team comprising of VK Range Students Union, VK Area Kukami/ GBs Association and VK Area Peoples Organisation has arrested two persons in connection with tax collection from the employees attending Airtel tower at VK town in the name of NSCN-R, Wednesday evening. As per the sources, the victim (s) reportedly updated the issue in some WhatsApp group, through which the information was tipped to NGO leaders’ knowledge.
They promptly set up an enquiry and filed a complaint against them leading to the arrest of the accused duo. The VK Area NGOs in a joint statement, had also appreciated the sincerity, dedication and efforts of the police personnel stationed at VK PS for the crucial role played in apprehending the duo. The accused were later identified as one Mughavi and Heshito, both residents of VK town and active functionaries of NSCN-R However, their full profiles/details such as parents and villages etc was not disclosed/ascertained till the time of filing this report.
DIMAPUR: Bosco B.Ed. College, Dimapur, organized orientation programme for the first Semester students on August 23 and 24 to serve as an ice-breaker for the new students to enhance their interpersonal knowledge and relationships as well as to promote team spirit. The students were divided into four groups – A, B, C and D. On the first day the competitions included painting/sketching, dance, singing (solo), extempore speech for groups A, B, C, and D. Groups A and C also participated in skit competition. On the second day competitions were held in group singing,
duet songs, solo dance and creative/surprise items for all the four groups. Groups B and D also took part in skit competition. At the end of the programme on August 24, Dr. Fr. Thuruthel Joseph sdb, principal, thanked the teachers for successfully organizing the orientation programme as well as for skillfully judging the various competitions. He heartily congratulated the students for their active participation and scintillating performance. He gave away first prizes to Imchangam Paul (group A) for extempore speech, to Valen Sumi (group C) for
solo singing, to Tshopre-u Tsuha (group A) and Mhiesizokhono (group C) for painting, to Pangphoa and Temjenrenla (group D) for duet singing and to Sudha Tamang for single dance. For the group events the principal presented awards to group C (first prize), group D (second prize, group B (third prize) and group A (fourth prize). He also announced that there would be painting/ drawing competition as well as poetry competition on Mother Teresa who would be canonized as universal Saint by Pope Francis in Rome on September 4.
Organisations flay assault DAKT inform Ao students on businessman DIMAPUR: Kohima Chamber of Commerce & Industry (K.C.C.I.) has condemned the assault on a shopkeeper at Jail Colony on August 19 allegedly by cadres of an underground group in the process of demanding taxes. In a condemnation note, KCCI stated “this senseless act of violence perpetrated on the hapless trader is totally unwarranted and (K.C.C.I.) condemns this incident in the strongest terms possible.” The Chamber demanded that the authorities of the national organization to which the cadres belong, to clarify on the matter. “The underground group must make a public unconditional apology to the victim and ensure that no such incidents happen again in the future. The business community is haunted by the scourge of illegal taxation and it has become next to impossible to carry out business without the fear of extortion and intimidation,” KCCI said. KCCI also called upon the law enforcement agencies to ensure security to the
trading community and bring the perpetrators to book at the earliest. C YO : C h a k h r o m a Youth Organisation (CYO) stated it was “shocked” to learn that one of its member Pelevilie Kuotsu s/o kevichulie kuotsu was “assaulted and beaten up by our own Naga brother Pitovi ‘ss’ regional commander GPRN NSCN (Unification) and two of his accomplices on August 19.” In a condemnation note, president CYO, Neizelie Keditsu said lamented that “these things are happening everyday in our so called Christian state.” In this regard, Chakhroma Youth Organisation maintained it was taking the matter seriously and urged upon the law enforcement agency to immediately book the culprits and award befitting punishment as per the law of the land. Further, CYO appealed to all NPG groups to refrain from such “social evil” practices which are detrimental to the society and its people who were yearning for peace.
DIMAPUR: Delhi Ao Kaketshir Telongjem (DAKT) has informed to all concerned citizens that the Delhi Ao Students Union has started its registration process for Ao students currently residing and studying in Delhi for the session 2016-17. DIMAPUR: Kiphiri Tuensang District Sumi Students’ Union (KTDSSU) strongly condemn the viral statement wrongfully alleging the power minister, Kipili Sangtam on the issue of reservation policy and also misconstruing the relationship between the minister and eastern Sumi in particular. In a release its president Bothuka Yeptho and general secretary V. Atoka Yeptho stated that such misleading statement in social networking such as facebook, whatsapp etc implies the highest crim. The union said it took the matter very seriously and thereby endorses its fullest support on the FIR lodged by the minister against the culprit. Further the union also appealed the investigating agencies to expedite the case in tracking the sources and book the culprit at the earliest. The union further said the fake propagandas and allegations against the section of Sumi’s living in Eastern Zone by certain section was taken seriously and asked those groups to immediately desist from such habitual practises that malign the image of the tribes and appealed for harmonious relation in the event of such practises.
