Fete day fund raiser in aid of International day of WIP held at KLC PLHIV inaugurated at Peren DIMAPUR: Fete day fund raiser in aid of poor people living with HIV (cd4 count) was inaugurated in Peren district on August 11 with deputy chief medical officer, Dr. M. Tiala Longkumer as the chief guest. This is an initiative of district AIDS Prevention Control Unit (DAPCU) under the aegis of CMO Peren district. The fund raiser would be held for 3 days till August 13. During a short inaugural programme held at police point, Peren town, Dr. Tiala highlighted that there were 145 people infected with HIV positive in the last FY in Peren district and most of the patients were from the poor family and could not effort in terms of medical cost. She also expressed and extended her utmost appreciation to the district admin-
istration for providing free accommodation and the 18th Assam Rifles Peren for providing the tents and all well wishers for contributing different items in support of this good cause. The fete day has a variety of stalls, food stalls, interesting games, lucky dip & Draw, jumble sales, Audio Visual is also been display and IEC materials, leaflets on HIV and Child Health and Maternal topics. Spot testing for HIV and Malaria are also been done. District AIDS Prevention Control Unit (DAPCU) staff has informed all the public of Peren district to come and be a part to support this good cause. The program was chaired by supervisor DAPCU, Ngeuzeulungbe and pastor Union Baptist Church, Yangsai pronounced the invocation.
DIMAPUR: International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples was held at Kohima Law College on August 9, with assistant professor Kezhokhoto Savi as moderator. The session involved all the teaching faculty and students where serious deliberations dealt with the theme, ‘Indigenous Peoples to Education’. The day aims to raise public awareness of the achievements and contributions of indigenous people
to the improvement of world issues and also focuses on the promotion and protection of the indigenous rights, such as the right to preserve their land and cultural heritage. Rights of the indigenous people in the context of Nagaland, Article 371A of the Constitution of India was to be considered as a special right to the indigenous inhabitants of the Naga people where it provides a provision to protect Naga culture, customs, tradition, lands, etc.

Treehouse Mkg organises interactive session DIMAPUR: The Treehouse, a prep school in Mokokchung, organized an ‘interactive session on oral hygiene and how to grow a beautiful face’ with the kids of the school and their parents with Dr.Temjen Longchari of Dental Touch and Facial Aesthetics, Dimapur as the resource person on Friday. The event was initiated and promoted by Jack in the Box, a leading kids store in Mokokchung and MPTV, a local TV channel and was held at The Treehouse prep school.
The event was also marked as a ‘dress up day’ for the kids, a fancy dress competition where the resource person was the judge. Jack in the Box sponsored the winner’s prize of the competition as well as presented surprise gifts to all the kids. The entire event would be aired on MPTV. Meanwhile, proprietor of The Treehouse, Arenla Lemtur, thanked the sponsors and the resource person for initiating the event and appreciated the kids’ parents for their support and participation.
DIMAPUR: Central Nag a l a n d Tr i b e s C o u n c i l (CNTC) has condemned the assault of Renathung Ezung, general secretary of the Lotha Hoho Dimapur on the 8 August by some miscreants. CNTC president, Hokiye Yeputhomi and general secretary Imtinochet Kubzar in a condemnation note stated that it was a matter of deep concern that such unlawful acts by anti-social elements were becoming frequent occurrence in “our” society which needs to be checked by all right thinking citizens. It urged the authorities to book those culprits at the earliest and punish them according to the law of the land. KEU: Kohima Elumyo Union (KEU) in a condemnation note, by chairman Albert Yanthan has called upon all the right thinking citizens to condemn such inhuman act and also appealed to the law enforcing agencies to nab the culprit at the earliest and punish them as per the law. PIO, APIOs trained on RTI DIMAPUR: Training on RTI ACT 2005 for public Information Officer (PIO) and Assistant Public Information Officer (APIO) was held at Deputy Commissioner office Longleng on August 11 and 12 for Government officers, NGO’s and Educational Institution. Inaugural programme was graced by DC Longleng, Y.Denngan Avennoho Phom NCS. He expressed gratitude to the trainers for positively responding in attending the training. He also highlighted that RTI has become an important tool in governance, and therefore, urged every officers to be will equipped with the RTI Act. He further urged the trainers to not only get trained but deliver information as and when required. The program was coordinated by Sub-Divisional Officer (Civil) HQ, Japheth Woch and the master trainers were- assistant professors Yingli college, Lanunochet Pongen, Thsingvi Tsangtam and Konchem.

DIMAPUR: One-day training on capacity building on Mission Organic Value Chain Development for North East Region (MOVCDNER) was conducted at Tamlu Village on July 19. DAO Longleng, Kiyevi Sumi, in his keynote address encouraged the farmers to adopt organic farming in large scale as sustainable agriculture. AI Bongkam Phom delivered the guidelines of the scheme. Earlier, the programme was chaired by VCC Bhuhnem Phom. Around 100 farmers attended the training programme.

DIMAPUR: Mass social work was held at Sanis on August 13, wherein all the public and the government departments conducted social work along the roads and the office premises at Sanis town. The main approach roads of the township which had deteriorated and un-motorable due to incessant torrential rains were repaired by the participants. SDO-Civil Sanis and staffs has also extended heartfelt gratitude to all the departments and the public who had contributed financially, materially and physically for the success of the social work.
Around 240 patients including elderly people and children availed the free health services and free medicines worth Rs. 50,000 were distributed to the patients. The village council has expressed gratitude to the medical team for rendering their tireless services and support in reaching out to the rural people.

Alempokba urged the students to keep striving and achieve greater heights. He also pointed out that 25 years is a time to reflect on the years gone by and to further draw the best within themselves.
