ICAR-AICRP (VC) adopts Hekeshe village; conducts training

Participants at the adoption-cum-training programme. DIMAPUR: ICARAICRP (VC), Nagaland Centre, SASRD,NU under TSP (Tribal Sub Plan) adopted Hekheshe village and conducted a day-long training programme on “methods of composting and its application in vegetable production & mushroom cultivation as an enterprise” on March 24. During the inaugural programme, publications on PRA of Hekeshe village and 6 bilingual folders on English and Nagamese on various topics were released by dean, SASRD, NU.

Lecture on the main topic was delivered by assistant prof., dept. of Agricultural Chemistry & Soil Science, Jurisandhya Barik Bordoloi and Dr. Narola Pongener, assistant prof., dept. of Plant Pathology respectively where practical demonstration on different composting methods and mushroom cultivation was carried out. The training was attended by 75 farmer participants out of which, 20 farmers were selected based on their interest and participation during the train-

ing. Wrap up session was conducted by prof. Akali Sema Incharge TSP, ICARAICRP (VC) with vegetable seeds and spawn distribution to all the participants and tools distribution to the 20 selected farmers. According to ICAR, this is the first village adopted under tribal sub plan (AICRP-VC), SASRD: NU wherein various activities will be carried out for the benefit of the tribal people. GMS Thenyizu organises exposure trip

GMS Thenyizu exposure trip team. DIMAPUR: With the view to upgrade the students’ rationality on rural areas and exposure to city life, Government Middle School (GMS) Thenyizu organized exposure trip to Dimapur from March 30-31. The exposure was an initiative of the staffs from GMS Thenyizumi with an aim to encourage young aspirations to get exposed

to the city life and to give them a taste of ground reality other than being confined to the textbook alone. The group of students visited Green Park, Nagaland Science Centre and Tea Garden in Dimapur. Altogether 42 students from Class V to VII along with teachers went for the exposure trip. TBHJ holds parting social-cum-thanksgiving DIMAPUR: Tyrranus Boys Hostel Jakhama(TBHJ) celebrated its parting social-cumthanksgiving for the ten (years) academic session on April 2 with president Nagaland Law Students’ Federation(NLSF), Imliben Lemtur as the guest speaker. In her address, Lemtur encouraged the students to study hard not just for good result but to prepare for future challenges. Fear of God must be the first thing, she told the students, adding that good discipline was necessary in a student’s life. She urged the students to avoid bad habits such as drinking, smoking, immoral, etc and grow up to be an asset for the society. The guest speaker also touched upon the positive role of youth in nation building while impressing upon them to practice ‘One man one Vote’ in the forth coming State General Assembly Election. TBJH warden also gave a brief report about the hostel.
