As President of the NAFC Indigenous Youth Council, I am thrilled to extend our sincerest gratitude for your interest in sponsoring the 35th Annual National Youth Forum taking place in Brandon, Manitoba. Your support means the world to us as we embark on this journey together.

ABOUT NAFC

The National Association of Friendship Centres (NAFC) is a network of over 100 Friendship Centres and Provincial/Territorial Associations, which make up part of the Friendship Centre Movement (FCM) – Canada’s most significant national network of self-determined Indigenous-owned and operated civil society community hubs offering programs, services and supportstourbanIndigenouspeople.

ABOUT NAFC INDIGENOUS YOUTH COUNCIL

The Indigenous Youth Council (IYC) was established in 1994 to bring Indigenousyouthviews,concerns,andissuestothenationallevel.TheIYCis comprised of 13 members including a four-member Executive Committee, a youth executive member, and eight provincial/regional representatives. The IYC brings a unified youth voice that helps guide the Friendship Centre Movement in several youth priority issues as well as provides a youth presence in the decision-making process of the Friendship Centre Movement.

INDIGENOUS YOUTH COUNCIL MISSION

To create positive change for Friendship Centre youth through inclusion, empowermentandcultureby: Increasing communication; increasing training and development opportunities;increasingyouthinvolvementbothinternallyandexternally totheFriendshipCentreMovement; Facilitating the development of youth leaders; providing awareness on issues facing urban Indigenous youth; encouraging and supporting the on-going spiritual, mental, emotional and physical development of urban Indigenousyouth; Involving youth at all levels of the Friendship Centre Movement both internally and externally; and, preserving and promoting our culture and heritage.

About the Annual Youth Forum

Every year the NAFC, in conjunction with the Indigenous Youth Council, hosts an annual Youth Forum for the Youth members of the Friendship CentreMovement.

The Indigenous Youth Council identifies the forum's workshops with input and feedback from the youth membership. Social and fundraising activities are organized by the host Centre, IYC andtheNAFC.

The Friendship Centre Youth Movement continues to grow. Its strength can be attributed to the participation of youth within local Friendship Centresandtheirrespectiveregions.

Each year, we organize a silent auction in conjunction with the National Association of Friendship Centres' Annual Meeting, which takes place immediately following the Youth Forum. All proceeds from this auction directlysupporttheIndigenousYouthCouncil.
