HEALTHY LIVING HEALTHY PLANET
BOSTON EDITION
Natural Awakenings' Mission Statement: To empower individuals to live a healthier lifestyle on a healthier planet. To educate communities on the latest in natural health and sustainability. To connect readers with local wellness resources and events, inspiring them to lead a more balanced life.
T
his month we celebrate 25 years of publishing Natural Awakenings magazine and the vision that was brought forth by our CEO and founder Sharon Bruckman. You can read more about Sharon’s story starting on page 10 in an article by our National Editor Jan Hollingsworth, “Silver Thread and Golden Opportunities, 25 Years of Natural Awakenings.” The mission statement summarizes our collective intentions as publishers within each of the communities we serve across the U.S. and Puerto Rico. The aspect that resonates most intensely with me is that of connection. Many of our publishers are also healers in their communities. We have doctors, naturopaths, homeopaths, yoga instructors, meditation teachers and holistic practitioners of many modalities that are publishing Natural Awakenings local editions around the country. Although I’m not a healer, I am a connector, the conduit for connection. It’s my job, mission and passion to connect the healers of our community and our planet with those who need or are searching for what they have to offer. They all offer hope. Each one has a unique story about how and why they started their practice and/or business. Each one is passionate about helping others improve their quality of life, and each one is focused on personalizing their approach for the success and well-being of every person they touch. Some future day, I hope to write a book that gives you a deeper look at their stories and how many have experienced or overcome seemingly insurmountable odds to pursue their passion for helping others. Whether it was a major upset in the corporate world that left them searching or a fire and passion that they were born with, each has a unique and compelling story to share. This month we bring you the 2019 Natural Healthy Living Directory. It's a special edition for you to save, share and refer back to when you or someone important in your life has a need that can be filled by one of the wellness professionals found in these pages. Wishing all a happy, healthy 2019 with 365 days filled with ease and grace.
