It was a cloudy and wet evening.

It was too wet for Myna to go out for a walk.

She looked outside from the balcony.

She saw two cuckoo birds sitting on a tree branch and singing.

Myna was so happy to see them.

There were no children in the playground.

Myna went inside to see what mom was doing.

We cannot go out..

Myna saw Mom arranging beautiful flowers in a vase.

Mom noticed Myna’s sad face and said, “Myna, my friend Ms. Jani is coming over.”

I am sad MOM!!!

Myna loved Ms. Jani but still felt sad that she could not go out.

Myna sat near the front door waiting for Ms. Jani.

A few minutes later, she heard the bell ringing and ran to see Ms. Jani… “ clingggggggg……!!!! ” Ms. Jani ???

To Myna’s surprise, she saw her friends, Nunu and Toto at the door.

Nunu and Toto also could not go out and decided to spend the evening with Myna.

Woof .. woof, I am happy to see you…

Nunu and Toto lived near her house and were Myna’s best friends.

As usual they played ‘Hide and Seek’ and ‘Tug of War’. When they started their next game ‘Catch’, Mom asked them to sit down and rest for a while.

Then they heard the bell again.

Myna knew this time that it was her Mom’s friend, Ms. Jani.

She ran towards the door and was incredibly happy to see Ms. Jani.

Welcome home Ms. Jani.

WOOFS!!!

Ms. Jani was happy to see Myna after a long time.

She carried Myna and kissed her.

Mom and Ms. Jani sat on the sofa.

They talked about Ms. Jani’s school.

Listening to their conversation, Nunu looked at Ms. Jani and asked, “Are you a Schoolteacher? Are you coming straight from school”?

Ms. Jani said, “Yes, I am a Teacher”.

Then Nunu turned towards Mom and asked, “Aunty, what do you do”?

Mom said, “I am a Writer”.

Toto said his mother was a Hair Stylist.

Looking at Myna’s toys, Nunu asked, “How did Myna earn money to buy these toys, what does she do?”

Ms. Jani was amused at this question.

She smiled and said, “Myna worked as a Security Guard and earned money.”

When they all left, Myna asked Mom, “Mom, Can I work as a Security Guard?

What does a Security Guard do”?

Mom said, “Myna, Guard Dogs protect palaces, property and homes”.

Myna imagined herself as a Security Guard.

But she did not want to be a Guard Dog. Myna wanted to consider some other options.

Guard dog?

Next day, Myna asked Mom again.

Mom said, some other options are, “You can be an Acting Dog and become a star of the show.

Being a trained Police Dog, you can assist the police.

As a Therapy Dog, you can make people feel better and happy.

As a Herd Dog, you can control livestock”.

“For all these occupations you need to undergo training”.

At night, Myna thought about all these options.

For a few days she could not decide what she wanted to be.

She thought and thought‌..

Finally, Myna made up her mind.

She wanted to be a Therapy Dog and make people happy.

She told Mom, “Mom, I want to become a Therapy Dog”.

Mom was happy that Myna was able to decide on her own.

Mom said, Myna, “Be happy and make people happy”.

Mom and Myna hugged each other.
