Staff Feature - Tanya Staff Corner

How did you get started in the aged care industry?

I applied for a a course - Aged Care cert 4, and was accepted. I attended the 8 week training, which also included Disability Awareness Program (DAP), with the in-house hours I was approached to remain in the Nursing home for a full-time job - which I accepted.

Which My Care Solution value do you align with most and why?

Humour - as I love to see people smile and laugh, and it’s great for the soul.

What did you want to be when you grew up?

A hairdresser or working in Forensics (which I’m currently studying).

What is your favourite thing to do in Adelaide?

Not a real fan of the city, so the favourite thing is to leave and come home hahah

How do you take care of yourself outside of work?

We have recently purchased a caravan, looking forward to going away and relaxing. I also make macrame pot hangers, I make my own bird toys, and ladders as I breed Indian Ring Necks Parrots. I like to go into the shed and make things with wood - such as shy dolls. I find it therapeutic to do some sewing - making wheatbags, purses and hammocks for my birds. I like to get out in the garden, I used to own horses. Catching up with friends and family.

Pet Feature

Pet name: Chain

Tanya Clifford says she has about 17 animals, but has opted to send a pet feature for 1 dog and 1 cat.

Breed: Johnson Bulldog

Age: 14 Years

Favourite Toy: A pink squeaky pig or any toy that squeaks

Chain’s personality: Chain is very protective of humans, if you place a kitten in front of him he will watch it and protect it. Chain is a gentle soul and loves play time, and running alongside of the push bike where he will hold the lead himself.

More about Chain: Chain loves to go walking out in the forest and along the beach, he isn’t a fan of water but will run under the sprinkler. Chain has such a beautiful nature.

Client Incentive Program Pet Feature

Pet name: Freya

Breed: Ragdoll

Age: 2 Years

Favourtie Toy: Chocolate wrappers - or leaves from the garden.

Freya’s Personality: Freya is very unique and loves to play with chocolate wrappers, we tie them into a knot, and when we throw them Freya will bring it back to you and expect you to throw it again - like a dog playing fetch.

More about Freya: Freya loves cuddles when it suits her, and Freya loves to explore in the cat enclosure, which has a treadmill, climbing stations, sleeping areas etc.

Freya has been desexed twice, as the first one they couldn’t find all of her bits, so we had to wait another 6 months and have her desexed again. The vet stated Freya is extremely unique. Freya is a very loving little lady and is always the first to greet you when you arrive home.

Caregiver Information:

An update from your Service Delivery Team Leaders

We would like to wish you all “Happy Holiday’s” and hope you enjoy this special time with your family and loved ones.

We wanted to thank all the Caregivers for your support and patience with the new Salesforce systems. It has been a learning process for us all. Please remember to contact the MCS offices for any clarification or assistance during office hours, to speak to any MCS office staff.

If you call after business hours, your call will be answered by an on-call team from HCA. The on-call team will pass a message on to any MCS office staff, the following business day.

Just a few reminders:

• To ensure that you are delivering the correct service to your client on the correct day. Please read the Service delivery instruction in the Salesforce Field app.

• Please continue to be diligent when checking in and out of a service on time as this is how you generate your time sheet to get paid correctly and on time.

• Notify MCS office to report any incident / Hazards / Near misses for a client so the office staff can enter an Elumina incident form on your behalf. Best practice is to call the office while you are still attending the client so as much information can be collected and instructions and support given for you and your client.

• Also please report any injury sustained to yourself to the MCS office ASAP.

• If a client dismisses you from a service earlier than scheduled, please contact the MCS office to advise.

• When accessing the Salesforce Field app, ensure you are regularly completing “Data Sync” in the settings menu.

• Please send any car registration, police clearance, driver’s license requests to commcare.compliance@ healthcareaustralia.com.au

Colleen and I will be concentrating on client notes in the coming weeks. Good documentation is an essential tool for effective communication of continuity of care and confirmation of the coordinated required service.

Please remember to keep your notes objective and not subjective. Full sentences are required. Entering one word like social support or domestic is not acceptable.

Auditors, legal representative or any other authorized individual may seek our documentation records at any time, therefore we rely on Caregivers documentation to support any claims, actions and outcomes.

Remember the motto “if it isn’t written down, it didn’t happen”
