HEALTHY GREEK FOOD Located at Soi 19 upstairs by Tony’s gym is a delightful little Greek café called Acropolis. We met the owner and he suggested we share many dishes which is always a delightful to experience a new place. First thing you notice is proudly displayed on the window is the following:  We use lave Rocks for our charcoal

NO MSG NO Trans Fats NO Palm & Vegetable Oil NO Refined sugar NO Artificial Colors No Preservatives Well that seems like a great way to start. While it is a Greek restaurant they also have a limited selection of Thai dishes. The first thing I always ask is about the feta cheese. It is the key ingredi-

ent in many dishes, and because it is quite expensive the first place to cut corners. They do not. Since two of our guests are Thai ladies it was irresistible to go for the cheap thrill. So I asked for Papaya salad, which elicited a cheap squeal of approval from both of them. So most had never tried a Greek Souvlaki. If y are unaware it is like a Kebab, AKA gyro (hero) but

three of us. My Thai girl said it was her #2 after of course the papaya salad. One can never go to a Greek restaurant without having a Greek salad. The feta and olives make it dramatically superior to the boring salade verte in other European restaurants. Plenty of feta was supplied in the salad. We had a side of tzatziki as we ate all the mixed grill one. Used it on many things. For a vegan dish we ordered potatoes oven. Sounded so boring to me. Boy was I wrong. As with most vegan dishes it is about the spices and seasonings over the ingredients, and this was delicious. Our vegan friend also decided to

try a very famous egg dish called Strapatsada. Basically scrambled eggs with feta and tomato sauce. TRY it, you will hate your scrambled eggs after this. At the end the Thai women BOTH were very complimentary on the papaya salad!

with unique Greek flavors and tzatziki sauce. We ordered Chicken, and it was approvingly shared three ways. Remember we always have Niels as our vegan guest. WE ordered the Mixed grill as it very typical in Greek restaurants. A huge platter consisting of both pork and pork mince, chicken and sausage. Sides of pita bread and tomato as well. A lot of food. I was surprised both Thais liked the Greek spices. We tried the Pastitsio which I lovingly call Greek lasagna. While not even a lasagna, it was delicious and quickly shared between

FOUR AND A HALF DECADES OF SUPPORT In 1974 Father Ray Brennan had already been working for several years with the underprivileged in Pattaya, but it in ’74 that his work was registered and made official. A short while earlier he had accepted into his care an unwanted newborn baby. From there he went on to open residential facilities for children who had been neglected, orphanage and abandoned. He also welcomed runaways, children who were escaping poverty and who found themselves living on the streets of Pattaya and having to sell their young bodies to get money for food. He also opened educational facilities for deaf toddlers, blind and visually impaired children and a vocational training facility for young adults living with a disability. Today the Father Ray Foundation continues the work of Father Ray Brennan, and cares for and edu-

COACH FROM AUSTRALIA

Goalball is a game played predominantly by blind and visually impaired athletes, and over many years the Pattaya School for the Blind has produced many players who have gone on to play at an international level. It is a game played with three players on each team, and the idea is to propel a large rubber ball from one end of a sports court into a goal at the other end. Servers and defenders are all blindfolded and inside the ball is a small bell so the athletes can hear when the ball is coming towards them. In the list of world rankings the Thai male team is 27th and the female team are 21st and training takes place most evenings at the school. A regular visitor to the school, Greg Scott, is the coach of the Queensland state team in Australia and he recently visited again to host training sessions for the students, accompanied by two Australian national team players. By coincidence two athletes from the Pattaya school have recently returned from Down Under after competing in an international Goalball competition, and they had played, and lost, against the two

PATTAYA VEGETARIAN FESTIVAL HUA HIN HOTELS 50% DISCOUNT

Over recent weeks you may have noticed the giant yellow signs across the main roads, advertising ‘The Pattaya Vegetarian Festival’. Well, not even the downpour of rain could stop the Gin Jai festivities getting underway on the afternoon of Monday, 28th September until Thursday, 8th October 2019 with the official opening of the 10 day event at their annual venue in the Sawang

Boriboon Foundation in Naklua. On arrival it was soon apparent how big this occasion is, going through the entrance, the long Chinese Gods adorned thoroughfare was completely lined with yellow stalls selling all manner of appetising vegetarian food. For anyone that is a permanent vegetarian this festival is ‘a must’ as ideas for meat substitution were in abundance. However, this an-

nual festival is in essence about the cleansing and purification of the body, by not eating meat during the 10 day period, and is traditionally linked to the ChineseThai communities not only in Pattaya but around the whole country at this time of year. Everyone attending the festival had been requested to wear white to signify their intention of self purification.

REPAIRING THE YELLOW SUBMARINE Wheelchair basketball, not easy

The end to an exhausting afternoon of musical chairs Her Majesty’s Canadian Ship Ottawa, a Halifax class frigate, recently arrived in Thailand as part of a six month deployment in the Asia-Pacific waters enforcing United Nations sanctions against

North Korea. While in the port of Laem Chabang many members of the crew paid a visit to Pattaya and spent the day at the Father Ray Foundation.

On arrival their first job of the day was to repair and put together a brand new slide at the Father Ray Day Care Center, which just happened to be in the shape of a yellow submarine.

Two female sailors made some new friends here in Pattaya

The crew of HMCS Ottawa made a generous donation to the children

Complete and the children love it

Being in the Navy meant the repair to the submarine did not take too long, and then it was over to the Technological College to meet the students with disabilities. After helping the students with their English skills it was time to play sport, basketball. Easy they thought, until they realized they would be playing basketball while sitting in a wheelchair, not so easy. After lunch they visited the School for Children with Special Needs where they were greeted by many of the one hundred and seventy children who attend the school. Games of futsal, petanque and basketball were just a warm up for the main event with the special needs children. Musical chairs, a game mostly played at children’s parties, and a game that the Canadians had not played for many years, but a game that is played at the school with as much seriousness as Usain Bolt puts into winning gold at the Olympics. After all the fun, the Canadians made a very special donation that is much needed in these financial troubling times.

DEALING WITH DEATH IN THAILAND Dealing with a death overseas can be a complicated matter but it does not always have to be. Going through the legal proceedings with regards to official documents and the executing of a will is a complex task in itself but doubly so when in a foreign country. There are many decisions that have to be made and procedures you will need to go through, such as the shipping of the body or a funeral service locally, getting the

proper documents; death certificate etc. and then sending them to be processed in their country of origin and executing an estate whether both locally and abroad or separately. The shipping of a body from Thailand to abroad say the United Kingdom is very expensive, in many cases a local funeral ser-

vice is arranged where the body is cremated with the ashes going back to the deceased country of origin. But before this can happen you will need to deal with the formalities such as death certificate which is processed by the hospital and sent to the district government office where you will need to pick them up. Which district depends on whether the deceased has a permanent address whereby the documents will be

sent there, if not then the documents will be sent to the district where they passed away. After this is done then the process of executing an estate can begin, this process is dependent on whether a will exists or not. If there is a will then you will need to bring that along with the death certificate to submit in a Thai

ISSUE 618 ď Ź OCTOBER 2019

court which will then appoint an administrator to the estate as per the will. If there is no will then the administrator will be in order of; spouse, children or the closest living relative. Before the estate can be executed the death certificate along with the court order appointing the administrator will then need to be submitted and processed in the probate court in the home country of the deceased. A translation of the local documents needs to be made and certified by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs here in Thailand. This process is to validate the death and administration rights in their home country after which the administrator will then be able to handle the local estate and execute the wishes of the deceased as stipulated by the will. Many foreigners here normally have two wills for Thailand and back home and this is the process of executing a will here locally. Administration rights can be extended to estate located overseas if there is no other will present. Having two wills can cause problems down the line and it is best to check with a legal professional what will be the out-

come if a dispute were to take place. Over all dealing with the legal processes of a death in the family or of a friend is an arduous and time consuming process, but can be eased with the help of pro-

fessional experts who know what they are doing and can leave you free to deal with what is truly important. If you have your own case or any questions regarding law in Thailand please feel free to write in to us and we will an-

swer any questions or concerns in this column. To contact the Lawyer please call: 08-9911-1199 or email: info@pattayapeople.com

PROBIOTICS, THESE FRIENDLY BACTERIA WE REALLY NEED preservatives have replaced fermentation as a method for the preservation of food. The intake of probiotic bacteria, which is important for maintaining a healthy intestinal environment and immune system, has dramatically decreased.

Here is the second part of the topic ‘our gut health’. Last month we’ve been talking about Fiber and this month we would like to introduce Probiotic, and specifically one of its most powerful sources, Kefir.

are in your gut. That’s because the gut is where most of your immune system is located. You need the good bacteria to overcome the bad ones. As long as that happy balance remains inside, things are fine.

What are Probiotics?

Why do we need Probiotics?

The term literally means ‘for life’ in Greek and it refers to live bacteria. Most of the bacteria in the human system are good bacteria. They are essential to keep you alive and kicking. Out of the many hundreds of kinds of bacteria that live inside of you, many of them

In earlier times, when fermentation was one of the main methods for the preservation of food, the intake of probiotic bacteria was high. Today the use of freezers, refrigerators, the pasteurization of food like dairy products and the use of different kinds of

foods such as fresh natural yogurt, kimchee, tempeh, miso, aged cheese, sauerkraut or in

Kefir benefits suggested by scientific evidence:

What Probiotics do? Your body can well tolerate a small percentage of bad bacteria. The good ones keep them in check and don’t allow them to get out of hand. However, when you fall ill or you have an infection and even when you have had a course of antibiotics, it could upset this balance and there aren’t enough of good bacteria to protect you inside. That’s when you need extra fighting power. You need to repopulate your gut with the good so they can bring your body back to a balanced state. How to get Probiotic?

as well as magnesium, calcium and phosphorus. It is high in amino acids too and thanks to the many enzymes that it contains, Kefir is also very easy to digest.

Certain probiotics in kefir are believed to protect against infections. This includes the probiotic Lactobacillus kefiri, which is unique to kefir. Studies demonstrate that this probiotic can inhibit the growth of various harmful bacteria, including Salmonella, Helicobacter pylori and E. coli. Kefiran, a type of carbohydrate present in kefir, also has antibacterial properties.  Improves bone health and lower the risk of osteoporosis: Full-fat kefir is a great source of calcium but also vitamin K2, which has been shown to reduce your risk of fractures by as much as 81%  Increases the flow of digestive 

DR.KAMALJIT SINGH HEALTH TIPS:HOW NIGHTTIME HABITS AFFECT DAYTIME HEALTH coating (bacteria) on your teeth in the morning. Swishing with mouthwash also might help prevent this buildup of bacteria. In just a day or two, it starts to harden into a cement-like “tarter” that can lead to cavities and gum disease. Only your dentist can remove tartar.

What you do in the evening can affect how you feel the next day. Find out how and what you can do about it- Dr. Kamaljit Singh. · Exercise: -In general, hitting the gym helps you sleep better and get to sleep quicker. But when you work out, your body makes more cortisol. That’s a hormone that helps make you more alert. That’s good when you’re trying to wake up for work. But it’s not so good when you’re trying to get to sleep. If you must exercise in the evening, try to finish at least 3 hours before bed. ·Packing Lunch — at Night: -Then you can just grab it from the fridge on your way out the door tomorrow. It saves time and stress in the morning, and it guarantees decent nutrition to get you through the day. ·Late-Night Eating: -That cheesesteak in the wee hours isn’t a recipe for a restful night’s sleep. You’re more likely to wake rested and ready for the day with a lighter dinner — less fat, salt, and calories — several hours before bed. If you’re hungry later, snack lightly on easy-to-digest foods like toast or yogurt. · Ignoring Your Teeth: -If you don’t brush and floss in the evening, you might notice a thicker

ISSUE 618  OCTOBER 2019

· Drinking Alcohol: - At first, it might make you sleepy. But after a few hours, it has the opposite effect. And the quality of sleep you do get may not be as good. Plus, it makes you pee more, which means more up and down to the bathroom. All this might leave you dragging the next day. Consider keeping it to 1 to 2 drinks per day, and try not to drink in the 3 hours before bedtime. · A Late Jolt of Caffeine: - It’s in tea, coffee, chocolate, and many energy drinks. Even in normal amounts, it can make it harder to fall asleep or make the sleep you get less effective, especially as you get older. Even if you have caffeine 6 to 8 hours before bedtime, it could give you that unrested feeling the next day. · Washing Your Face: -You don’t want to over wash your face or scrub it too hard, especially if you have dry skin. But you should wash off the dirt, grime, sweat, and makeup at the end of the day. By keeping germs off your face, you’ll keep pimples away and you might even prevent eye infections. Plus your moisturizer, if you use one, will work better.

few minutes to organize your thoughts, you can create a mini-plan for the next day — a “to-do” list, if you will. It will help you lessen your stress level the next morning by giving you a ready-made guide for how to attack the day. ·Being Digital After Dark: - Too much artificial light after the sun goes down can mess up your internal clock. The “blue light” given off by your smartphone, laptop, and other electronics can cut down the amount of melatonin that your body makes, which can make winding down difficult. Specialized glasses or screens can filter out the light, and some devices have “nightshift” settings that help remove it. But the best solution is to put the electronics down early.

· Get a Sleep Routine: - Ease the path to bedtime with a soothing evening routine. Read a book or listen to calming music. A hot bath or shower can promote sleepiness, as can some light stretching. Avoid difficult or stressful discussions late in the evening, which can trigger hormones that keep you up. For More Details Contact: Dr. Kamaljit Singh Mobile (+66) 869032543, Email: info@drkamalholistic.com Website: www.drkamalholistic.com

·Napping: - A nap of any length in the late afternoon or evening can lead to an unfortunate cycle that disrupts your normal sleep routine and makes it hard to get up in the morning. ·Your Busy Mind: - It can be hard to relax when your mind is racing with the million things you need to do. But if you take just a

FED INTEREST RATE CUT: DO WE REALLY KNOW WHERE WE’RE HEADING?

As the Fed lowers its benchmark interest rate for the first time in over a decade, do we actually know where we’re heading? On 31st July, the Federal Reserve cut its base interest rate (the Federal Funds Rate) by 0.25%.[1] Significantly, it was the first rate cut since 2008. Back then, in the face of what came to be known as the Global Financial Crisis (GFC), then-Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke made three major cuts, slashing the 5.25% rate of December 2007 to 0.25% a year later. Any precedents? In the period between 2009 and 2015, the Fed kept the rate flat at 0.25% in a forlorn attempt to boost the economy through encouraging banks to lend at low rates. Since then, the US central bank has been gradually upping rates until they hit 2.5% last December.

As we head into this Brave New World, I was curious to see if there was any precedent to give us some idea as to what to expect. Of course, the danger of looking to the past is that it’s tempting to retrofit data and see convenient coincidences, which fit a narrative but aren’t really there. Added to that, with just 9 periods of US recession in the last 65 years, there’s only a small sample of data available, with questionable accuracy at that; and economic conditions and systems have changed many times over the years. Above all, we have to remember that data with hindsight is very different to how a situation might look and feel at the time – recessions are generally events that central banks try to avoid with foresight, but which are typically only conferred ex post facto. A bit like being given a road map only after you arrive (or not)

to reverse policy, cutting rates to around 6% before the Fed’s reins were handed over to Alan Greenspan. The final ‘mid-cycle adjustment’ came during ‘the Great Greenspan Moderation’. Having cut rates by the end of 1993 to levels below 3% (which would have given his predecessor nightmares), Greenspan then turned tail and hiked back to a typical post-recession growth pattern of over 6% by early 1995 before cutting them below 4.75% in 1999, as economic storm clouds and irrational exuberance both gathered. In Part 2, I’ll discuss the effectiveness of these rate cuts and what we can expect now. via the US Dollar, is so different to today we can’t make a useful comparison. We should also rule out the period when Paul Volcker was in charge of the Fed (1979-1987).[2] His interest rate decisions involved extreme hikes and cuts, and I honestly don’t understand his rationale enough to decide whether it worked or not, never mind to compare it with today!

recession, interest rates fell from over 19% at the onset of recession in mid-1981 to below 8.5% in 1983, after the recession officially ended. Although not nearly so aggressively as in the previous instance, the Fed looked to increase rates once more (to almost 12% by 1984) but the headwinds to the US economy convinced even Paul ‘I-never-meta-rate-hike-I-didn’t-like’ Volcker

at your destination. Nevertheless, in the last 65 years the most notable relationship between recessions and policy interest rates has been that the Fed typically raises interest rates until a recession ensues and then begins to cut them generally just before or during the recession (in 1969, 1973 and the 3 most recession downturns beginning in 1990, 2000 & 2007 – see chart). Pretty much all of these time series show a recurrent pattern of interest rates being reduced in contractionary conditions (whether before or during downturns) and a gradual increase in interest rates once the economy started to grow again. Although this was much more clearly pronounced in the period from 1954 to 1980. To begin with, we should only look at the recessions which took place after the 1973 obsolescence of

The inter-casus periods from 1991 to 2001 (the so-called Great Moderation, most of Alan Greenspan’s 19-year reign at the Fed) and even more since the GFC, have not exhibited typical recoveries in interest rates. The absence of a perceived inflation threat appears to be the unifying factor here. So, what’s happening now? In his announcement on 31st July this year, current Fed chair Jerome Powell emphasised that the rake hike was a “mid-cycle adjustment”,[3] thus implying that the longest ever recovery cycle on record is only halfway through. To test this claim, we need to look specifically at the impacts of rate adjustments during recovery cycles. Following the recession which ended in early 1961, rates rose from 1.5% in January 1961 to over 5.75% in November 1966.[4] Facing a slowdown, rates were then cut to below 4% around a year later before rising again to around 9.25% in the second half the post-war Bretton Woods sys- of 1969, preceding the recession tem. That’s because the system, that began at the end of that year. which pegged currencies to gold Following the second ‘Volcker’

BUNKER BOYS Monday, September 16th Bangpra 1st Robby Watts (7) 30 points 2nd Jimmy Carr (15) 30 points 3rd Michael Brett (14) 28 points Near pins Tony Robbins & Michael Brett. A grey sky with blustery wind for our round at the monkey course. Black clouds loomed on the horizon for most of the round and the rain managed to stay away until the seventeenth when it came down, not as heavy as monsoon rain but still enough to get us wet. Good rain is welcome as all the water catchment areas on the course are virtually empty. Despite conditions not being any more difficult than normal scoring was abysmally low. Robby Watts and Jimmy Carr were tied on thirty points with Robby taking it on countback. Some consolation for third-placed Michael Brett who got a near pin on the Gordon Melia hole and also won all three sixes. Wednesday, September 18th Eastern Star. 1st Jimmy Carr (15) 31 points 2nd Robby Watts (7) 27 points 3rd Niall Glover (20) 25 points Near pinsRobby Watts & Jimmy Car. Torrential Monsoon rain fell in Pattaya for the first time this year on Tuesday and Wednesday

morning broke with threatening dark skies, so the signs were not good. Nevertheless, a bunch of Bunker Boys set out for Eastern Star more in hope than expectation of a dry round. All was ok till the third hole when it chucked it down and everyone took shelter in the drinks station at the fourth tee for over an hour. When play resumed on the fourth the course was sodden and it was not long before the rain came down again, this time for about twenty minutes. By this stage most were completely demoralised as conditions were about as difficult as one could imagine. As a consequence scoring was from very low to negligible, only the ever-reliable Jimmy Carr managed to break thirty doing one better to take first place. An unbelievable low score of twenty-seven saw Robby Watts take second, and Niall Glover was welcomed back in third place with twenty-five. Near pins went to Jimmy & Robby. As we are on the edges of a large monsoon storm in the North East the likelihood of more rain on Friday look a distinct possibility. Friday, September 20th Greenwood C & B 1st Niall Glover (20) 36 points 2nd Robby Watts (7) 33 points 3rd Michael Brett (14) 32 points Near pins Robby Watts & Michael

Brett. As was predicted on Wednesday the rain was in the air again, by the third tee it was lashing down at Greenwood. By the time we could shelter at the fourth tee on the C nine everything was soaked. After about a fifteen-minute delay, play resumed in very trying conditions and by the sixth tee, it was obvious to the lead group that we needed to implement the pick, clean, and place rule for the remainder of the round. Light rain fell intermittently till the seventeenth and by that time it was pointless sheltering as we were about as wet as it’s possible to be so we soldiered on to the end. Niall Glover accumulated a surprisingly good score under the circumstances to take first place with thirty-six points. Robby Watts took second with thirty three and Michael Brett third on thirty-two. With gloves and grips wet and underfoot slippery, it was an achievement to even play at all, less dedicated souls might have just retired to the bar and had some real fun. Only two near pins were taken with one each to Robby Watts and Michael Brett. Niall Glover Robby Watts

LINKS GOLF SOCIETY Monday 23rd, September, 2019 Sun Shines On Andrew Blackman One game washed out, the next almost washed out, so it was heartening to have everyone who signed up for this game arrive in the morning, albeit with some trepidation. It was drizzling rain in Pattaya as the bus and cars set off, but hopes were high for a dry(er) day. Hello Muddah, Hello Farddah, the sun came out at Bangpakong and the world looked good, and all but the last group completed the round dry and, in the case of Stu Brown who went hatless, very red around the cranium. That last group had some drizzle on the 17th which became a downpour on the 18th. Although carts had to stay on the path, the course was in very good condition but the greens, having had some rain the day and

evening before, were a little slower than usual. The sun shone well and truly on Andrew Blackman as he recorded a convincing win, racking up 40 points in his final outing this trip. Second place became a tussle between two high handicappers as Stu Brown and Barry Oats both had 38 points. Stu, red head and all, had the better back nine. Petur Petursson rounded out the placings with an excellent 37 points off his handicap of six to record the lowest gross of the day. Carl Lovatt “won” the “silly hat’ on countback at his last game before heading home for a short break. We know the area absolutely needs plenty of rain, but it would be appreciated most if it came after golf. Today we got away with it. BILLABONG WEDNESDAY, SEPYEMBER 18TH GREEN VALLEY STABLEFORD A wet golf course, the result of heavy rain on Tuesday, followed by some hot sunshine to start our round are the perfect ingredients for a very humid day which descended upon us like a wet blanket. More heavy rain is forecast, which would be good for the course, but don’t believe everything you hear or read especially from the meteorologist dept. The humidity did not stop some spectacular rounds especially from the

ford to! Right now the price is right. Steve Younger was today’s winner taking the event with 35 points. For placing sake only, second home was Keith Buchanan, with an inform JJ Harney coming in third. ladies, no big surprise there. Miss Porn (20) occupied 3rd place with 36 points despite 2 blobs in her round. But I am running out of adjectives to describe the rounds of the next two golfers. Miss May (12) started with a double bogey and just an ordinary 9 holes for 16 points but she pulled her metaphorical socks up at the turn to record 5 pars and 2 birdies for a magnificent level par back nine and 40 points only to finish in 2nd place behind Miss Sa (18). Her excellent 41 points included a blob and double bogey on the way out but 8 pars in her round gave her an 85 gross score and 1st place.

SIAM COUNTRY RESORT Paul Davies strong at Pleasant Valley On Tuesday 17th September we went to Pleasant Valley. After the rain then night before we found a wet course, but in reasonable condition. The weather was cloudy and humid. Not real ideal circumstances, but we enjoyed our game. Paul Davies returned refreshed after a short holiday. He played a solid game and was not impressed by the wet conditions. He won with 35 stable ford points. Second was Stan Rees with 33 stable ford points and third John Feeney with 32 stable ford points.

The nears to the pin were for Stan Rees and Jonathan Pratt. On Thursday 19th September we had no competition with our group, but participate in the PSC tournament at Eastern Star in favor of the farewell of Dave Richardson. It was a well organized tournament, but ended in a heavy shower. John Feeney and Stan Rees became third, beating Jonathan Pratt and Stuart Banks. Good results for our group. The men, as usual, cannot compete with the ladies’ performances but Kevin Wild (25) did his best outstripping the rest of the field by 5 points and could have been better but for 4 one pointers on the back nine. In 2nd place was Shaun Merriman (10) who won a three way countback with 19 points on the homeward trip, which included 5 pars, relegating Auke Engelkes (11) into 3rd place mainly due to only 8 points in his last 5 holes but he did have a birdie on a par 3 to share the plaudits with Tony Oaks also with a two on the 16th hole. PSC ‘STOPS THE RAIN’ AT BAAN MABPRACHAN SCHOOL A few months ago, Noi Emmerson, the Charity Chairperson of the Pattaya Sports Club, received a request from teachers at Baan Mabprachan School requesting help solving the problem of rain splashing into their classrooms, compounded by flooding in front of the classrooms. Noi Emmerson, along with Golf Chairman Jack Moseley and other committee members, inspected the situation at the school to determine the cause and decide what could be done to alleviate the hardships affecting the children. It was determined that the building did not have an awning running alongside the building to prevent rain from splashing directly into the windows. To make mat-

ters worse, the pavement outside was uneven and needed to be raised to a higher level to prevent flooding. Without hesitation the PSC executive committee approved a bud-

get of 100,000 baht required for the renovation and building work, enabling the constructors to get the work done in record time. On Sept 5, 2019, President Pratheep S. Malhotra ‘Peter’ led a

delegation of PSC committee members, including VP Tim Knight, Charity Chair Noi Emmerson, Secretary Willem Lasonder, PR Chair Dave Smith and GM Ingkarat Chaimongkon to the Baan

They were welcomed by Mrs. Kwanruean Salaewong, Director of Mabprachan Kindergarten School and Assoc. Together they guided the visitors on a tour of the school and their facilities. The PSC has supported the school with many of their needs throughout the years, most recently being the purchase of dining tables and benches for the school’s canteen at a cost of 77,000 baht. The club has also co-sponsored many

other projects for the school, notably the clean water filtration system. Kindergarten children dressed in their smart school uniforms came out from their classes to say thank you to the benefactors and gathered for a group photograph. Dr. Veera thanked the Pattaya Sports Club for their generosity while Peter thanked the school for giving the PSC the opportunity to serve the community by helping the children with their needs. He said, “The Pattaya Sports Club’s ideals are to Promote Sports and Support Local Charities. FAB BAZ POP - PARTS 1 & 2 Out of all the many sides to the world of entertainment I get involved in, be it radio & TV presentation, music and video editing/production, performing live and feature writing, the aspect I enjoy the most is the creativity of being a song writer which has been very kind to me financially during my long career in pop

The music business has change dramatically since the onslaught of the internet and, apart from the Christmas period, in most countries CD sales have almost completely vanished with MP3 players, computers, iPads, Smart Phones, etc., taking over as the most popular sources for an individual to hear their preferred artists and tracks. Therefore the emergence of iTunes, Spotify and other such download companies or streaming agents have become the ‘go to’ places for most switched on music lovers. This means that, although direct sales of product have diminished, a whole world has literally opened up for availability.

music. I’m very appreciative of my ability to having been able to create entertainment that has been enjoyed by millions around the world, the most successful being the song 5,6,7,8 by ‘Steps’, a band I helped put together and produce and which is still to this day an international party classic and a royalty earner. To this end, I’ve been spending time in my own recording studio this year producing a bunch of songs I’ve either written myself or co-written recently. I can now reveal that all thirty new original tracks will be released on October 11th in two albums serviced by Nova Distribution in the U.K. to download and streaming sites worldwide.

So here is the track listing for both albums: FAB BAZ POP - Part One FAB BAZ POP - Part Two 01. Luv Rockz 01. 27 Again 02. Middle Ground (Divided) 02. Trust Me, I’m A Doctor 03. Touch Me, Touch Me 03. Old Skool Fun 04. Special Feeling 04. The Smart Phone Song 05. 25/7 05. Woke Up Tired 06. Your Name 06. Shopping 4 Shoes 07. Thank U 4 U 07. Go Go Tokyo 08. Alphabet of Luv 08. I Luv My Job 09. Super Sunshine Girl 09. Playing Hard To Get 10. Do Not Disturb 10. Little Things That I Love 11. Driftin’ 11. I Ain’t Going To A Go Go 12. Living My Dream 12. Come On, Get Up 13. A Luv Song 4 You 13. 5,6,7,8, (Rodeo Romeo Version) 14. 10,9,8,7... 14. Vitamin Sea FAB BAZ POP is the name of my 15. Rock ‘n’ Don’t Stop 15. Paradise Wonderland new album which is split into two groups of fifteen tracks namely Part 1 and Part 2. From mid October, both albums can be downloaded from many sites direct to your phone or computing device with maximum quality, attached lyrics to all songs and links to the relevant promo videos via my website. I have noted that a prominent Thai record label have started to produce packaged artist albums on USB sticks which I think is a great idea especially for those that miss the thrill of owning a vinyl album, music cassette or CD with the cover artwork and song information. I’m sure this will catch on around the world as it is impossible to give someone the

gift of an Mp3 which is out there, somewhere in the ether. Not being one to shy away from current trends, I too will be offering this product idea as an alternative option to ‘downloading’.

Competition for chart placings may soon come from a compilation album which is being released around the prospected U.K. Brexit at the end of October. Some very apt titles on this one. [555].
