TheyoungCribPointsidestruggledtocompetewith the dynamic speed of Chelsea which resulted in a substantial lead quite early to the visitors. While Chelsea looked faultless in the way they brought the ball down the court and delivered it to the goalers, the Magpies increased their pressure in the second quartermaintainingmorepossessionoftheball,but it was the unforced error count that allowed the Seagulls to continually capitalise and increase the scoreline. After struggling for a few weeks with injuries to Pearcedale’s A Grade team, their whole roster of playerswerebackinfullforceagainstHastings.
Thefirstquarterhadthismatchupquiteclosewitha slight advantage to the Panthers by 4 with plenty of netball to play. The hosts kicked into gear as the attacking end produced some brilliant play led by Hollie Peterson and Natalie Sparks. Hastings quality defencefounditdifficulttomatchAlanahHardyand Hollie Peterson under post. The lead was extended outto10athalftime,butHastingswerenotallowing this to extend further and equalled the converted goalsinthethird.Withjustaquarterleftofplay,the Panthers defence end lifted to another level with Tara Cecil back in the side and all other defence combinations created many turnovers and gains. Withthefinalscoreextendingtoa20-goaldifference bytheend,Hastingstakepositivesfromthelosswith goalers Tinika Tipene and Grace Cusworth developing their connection in the goal circle and Sussu Liai continuing her great form in defence.
