LOOKING AFTER OUR WORLD MWTC is stepping up to help protect the planet
With increased awareness of the damage plastic pollution has on the environment, this year Mubadala World Tennis Championship has teamed up with Dgrade to reduce waste from the tournament. Less than 6% of all plastic in the UAE is recycled. In an attempt to increase this figure for the better, the championship is taking steps to limit its environmental impact. Thanks to Dgrade, all PET1 plastic – mainly water bottles – recovered from the event will be recycled into yarn to produce clothing. That’s just the first step. All the volunteers at this year’s championship will be wearing Dgrade tops, which are made with 50% Greenspun™ (a high-quality yarn developed by Dgrade) woven with 50% cotton. What’s more, banners from the Mubadala Community Cup (MCC) have also been recycled to produce sports bags for our MCC champions. Play your part – keep an eye out for the Dgrade bins located around the stadium grounds and give your empty water bottle another life. Want to do more?
