It also acknowledges the valuable contribution made by older people living, working, volunteering, and visiting the Peninsula.

Small second dwellings –housing options for older people
Last year, PACE Housing Working Group hosted an information session about the Victorian Government’s small secondary dwelling initiative. Speakers included Shire Planning and Building Officers, Seaside Building which specialises in small second dwellings and a representative from Housing Victoria’s Moveable Units Scheme.
The initiative is a means to alleviate housing pressures. For older people who
own their homes on the Mornington Peninsula, a second dwelling can offer extra accommodation and rental income. The second dwelling options can be tailored to fit the property owner’s specific needs.
It could be more suitable for an older person to move into a smaller dwelling and rent out their house to a family, possibly even their own relatives.
An older person may offer accommodation to their caregiver or a trusted tenant.

HERstory
HERstory: Women of the Mornington Peninsula is a collaborative project with the Mornington Peninsula Local History Network that uncovers and celebrates the rich histories of local women.
This initiative transforms public space into a canvas that honours and celebrates the vital contributions of women in shaping the cultural, social and historical identity of our Peninsula.
The project aligns its message with global calls for accelerated action towards gender equity, reflecting the 2025 International Women’s Day theme, Moving Forward.
HERstory engages the community visually to showcase the triumphs and challenges faced by women, inspiring reflection on how their legacies resonate today.
