PHILOSOPHY & PRACTICE WHO IS THIS COURSE FOR? If you are an early years educator or qualified teacher wishing to add Montessori to your practice this could be the right course for you. WHY STUDY THIS COURSE? MCI has developed this innovative blended learning course in response to demand from employers within the Montessori community. Study flexibly at your own pace with support from a dedicated tutor(s) and choose materials practice that is convenient to you. AFTER YOUR STUDIES: MCI graduates have the knowledge and skills needed by the Montessori community to provide quality education and care across the Early-Years sector. Development of relevant employability skills and insight into contemporary sector practice are both key aspects of the training. The IMP: Philosophy & Practice course is a self-regulated qualification awarded by Montessori Centre International and approved by Montessori Centre International’s Standards & Training Accreditation Review (STAR). Qualified practitioners with the IMP are considered Montessori qualified staff for the purposes of STAR. Please note, The IMP: Philosophy & Practice course is not an Ofqual registered qualification and will not confer licence to practice in its own right. You’ll also complete a minimum 30

hours hands-on materials practice with Montessori materials. This is held at a range of MCI Host Centres across the UK and Internationally.


PHILOSOPHY & PRACTICE BLENDED LEARNING The international nature of Montessori education is reflected in our diverse student body studying worldwide on MCI qualifications and courses. We have developed a blended learning approach which combines face to face and online learning, using our innovative virtual learning environment which enables learners to communicate, reflect and collaborate, establishing a vibrant international community of Montessori learners. All students will access course materials through this online platform and will be supported by an assigned tutor(s) to receive feedback on work and participation in the forums. Similarly, at the face to face materials practice you will be guided by Montessori specialist tutors.

WHAT WILL YOU STUDY? Seven units of study: * Montessori Philosophy * Activities of Everyday Living * Education of the Senses * Numeracy and Arithmetic * Literacy * Knowledge and Understanding of the World * Creativity * Assessment: There are five assignments to be completed in total, along with a Practical Assessment and Professional Discussion. Upon successful completion of all elements, students will be awarded a MCI, IMP: Philosophy & Practice Certificate.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS: Aged 18 or over Have a licence to practice and/or full and relevant early years qualification at Level 3 or above as listed on the DfE database e.g. CACHE Diploma, BA (Hons) Early Years Practice, PGCE or QTS, or overseas qualification equivalent (statement of comparability for international qualifications may be required). If English is not your first language you should be able to demonstrate competency at level B2 of the Common European Framework (CEF) proficiency levels.
