Bee-autiful!
Bee-autiful!
by Robert Cudmore

Have you noticed fewer bees and other insects this year? Many believe the often dull and damp weather (until September) in North Devon in 2024 is to blame.
As we head into autumn we celebrate the work of these vital little creatures with our photo of the month, a pollen laden bumblebee from the lens of local photographer Robert Cudmore.
“One of my first memories of photography was at 7 or 8 years old, when my dad used the bathroom as a dark room to develop his films (remember those!),” Robert told Molton Monthly Magazine. “I started photography as a keen amateur about 25 years ago, and enjoy walking or cycling and snapping pictures of nature. A few years ago I first attempted macro photography, it was a steep learning curve and the most difficult genre I have tried.”
“As with a lot of others this year, I have noticed a huge lack of insects in my garden which although I’m no expert, I believe the good old British weather has played its part.” Whether it’s wildlife life like this, a landscape or seascape, rural life, nature, special events, sports, a local character or something else - please keep emailing us your pictures. We usually only feature one each month in the magazine, but show more on our Instagram and Facebook pages: @MoltonMonthly
