MISSOURI ATHLETIC CLUB 2021 ELECTION OF MEMBERS TO THE BOARD OF GOVERNORS

Thursday, May 6, 2021

ELECTION Balloting for the election of five (5) members to serve the regular term of three (3) years on the Board of Governors will take place in the Downtown Clubhouse on Thursday, May 6, 2021.

You may cast your vote electronically by logging into the MAC website any time after 8 a.m. on Monday, May 3, 2021, or in person, undisturbed, on May 6, between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. at the Downtown Clubhouse (prior to gauntlet hours, dependent upon City protocol at that time). If you are not able to attend the election and wish to cast a paper ballot, you may request a mail-in Absentee Ballot, which must be received in the Downtown Clubhouse no later than 5 p.m. on May 6. However, to participate in the revelry with your fellow Members (dependent upon City protocol at that time) you’re invited to cast your ballot at the Downtown Clubhouse in the Art Lounge from 7 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Thursday May 6, 2021. Only Resident, Fellowship, Emeritus and Associate Members in good standing and not in arrears are permitted to vote. Absentee ballot votes and paper ballot votes must be cast on the Official Ballot. No ballot will be counted that is marked with more or less than five names. The five candidates receiving the most votes will be elected. Don’t forget to sign the yellow card if you are voting with a paper ballot.

The Washington Avenue entrance and Lucas Street entrance (back door) will be open on Election Day (dependent upon City protocol at that time). Visitors will be instructed to enter through the Lucas Street entrance. The Downtown Clubhouse will serve a complimentary buffet dinner on Election Day from 5-8 p.m. for all voting Members in the following locations: Eads Room and Missouri Room.

Election winners will be announced in the Missouri Room as soon as results become available.

Governors STATEMENT I joined the MAC during a corporate relocation from Boston and lived at the Downtown clubhouse for nearly two years – a unique experience! My “hallmate” was Wally Smith, who was newly hired and also relocating. The warm welcome, support and fellowship I received – from members and staff alike – turned St. Louis from a temporary waypoint to my family’s adopted hometown. Ten years have passed in a blink of an eye.

Our bonds with the MAC have grown throughout - enduring friendships, professional connections, happy memories, and annual traditions - from Breakfast with Santa, Mother’s Day, and Easter Brunches to Good Fellowship Day and club elections. I use our dining facilities and reciprocal clubs frequently.

I am honored to stand for election to the Board of Governors and would be privileged to serve the organization that has meant so much to my family and me. If elected, I would contribute executive skills from a career leading complex, high-value transactions and strategic initiatives within large corporations and as a business owner – skills relevant to the unique challenges of our current environment. I am committed to preserving our rich club traditions and improving member experiences, while working to broaden the appeal of our club.

Mark’s personal mission to empower and inspire people to be the best they can be is reflected in Mosby Building Arts being awarded a St. Louis top-work place by its employees for the past 5 years. Mark has 20 years of experience in leadership development, business planning, traditional and digital marketing, technology integration, and team performance. His unconventional past as a Grammy nominated and Emmy Award winning music producer and recording engineer has given Mark a unique perspective on how to motivate and inspire teams to perform at their best.

Following his studies on high-performance boards, Mark helped Mosby Building Arts’ form its first advisory board in 2014. Mark’s volunteer work includes the co-founding two small not-for-profit organizations, participating as a current member of Harvard’s Remodeling Futures Steering Committee, serving two past terms as president of a local Toastmasters’ chapter, coaching the nationally ranked Lindbergh High School racquetball team, and volunteering for his church. STATEMENT My wife and I had our wedding reception at the MAC in 2011.

We started our married life in Washington, D.C., but returned home to St. Louis in 2014 to start a family. A few years later we became MAC members ourselves, something I had dreamed of doing since I first set foot in the Club. I have had so many good times and fostered so many great friendships during my time at the MAC. Some of my favorite activities include hanging out at the Jack Buck Grill or 1903 Bar, partaking in pre and post-game festivities for Blues, Cardinals and Billikens games, playing basketball, and hosting business meals downtown and out West. As a family, we love spending summer days and nights at the West pool, enjoying dinners in the Stan Musial Grill, and partaking in the various kids’ activities and holiday events offered throughout the year. As our kids get older, we are excited for them to enjoy all the Club has to offer (swim team, sports camps, etc.), while we, the parents, still get to have fun. I believe serving on the Board will allow me to give back to the Club that has given me and my family so much. I am honored to even be considered for the opportunity.
