WHERE WE WORK...

‘Persecution never kills a church, but a compromised Gospel will.’
In the State of the Great Commission report issued by the Lausanne Congress in late 2024, gaps in the fulfilment of the Great Commission were identified. Many of these gaps highlighted the need to remain Gospel true in an ever changing world in light of the challenges of secularism, AI and social media to name a few.
However, in spite of all of the obstacles to the work of Christ, the statement by Patrick Fung quoted above serves as a stark reminder that only the Gospel can bring hope to a sin cursed world.
As the Gospel is “the power of God unto salvation” (Rm 1:16), we must ensure the truth of the message is never compromised or altered as we adapt to the world around us. This challenge applies to global the Church. Yet sadly, the Gospel is being compromised around the world. Multitudes of people are being deceived by those who claim to be ‘men of God’ but are not, and claim to offer hope and life but instead, extort and mislead.
MA is committed to working with partners to uphold the Gospel of Christ without compromise. Will you stand with us?

JUNE CELEBRATION & COMMISSIONING

‘They are the called ones, I could never do that!’ (David Morrison)
On Saturday 21st June, we held our annual Celebration and Commissioning Service. If you weren’t able to join us, you missed a really great evening!
Over 50 people shared food together beforehand, provided by Caroline Bustard and her team. This was such a lovely way to start the evening and have the opportunity to catch up with faithful supporters who’ve journeyed with MA for years as well as welcoming new faces. It was a joy to have some of our short-termers who are going to Africa this summer, lead
us in worship throughout the evening.
Our theme this year was ‘Discipleship through Partnership’ which reminded us of the importance of not serving on our own strength, but that of joining together in partnership with churches and ministries in Africa. Just as Samuel Bill recognised the need for a partner in David Ekong to reach the unreached, that same truth still applies today.
A highlight of the evening was the opportunity to interview David Morrison & Musa Gaiya about how their lives
‘MISSION AFRICA
PARTNERS WITH LOCAL CHURCHES AND MINISTRIES IN AFRICA TO OBEY CHRIST’S COMMAND TO REACH THE LOST WITH THE GOOD NEWS OF JESUS, DEMONSTRATE HIS LOVE AND MAKE DISCIPLES’
DISCIPLESHIP
and ministry are committed to this partnership in the Gospel. David and his family serve in Chad in partnership with TEAM (The Evangelical Alliance Mission) and Musa is Nigerian, partnering with MA and churches and Bible Colleges within northern Nigeria.
‘They are the called ones, I could never do that’ refers to when David and Lucy first went to Chad, feeling totally inadequate to do what God had called them to do. But with partnership from Chadian ministries; they have seen first-hand of God at work in transforming lives.
The whole night emphasised the need of such partnership and the urgent need to reach the unreached with the Gospel. We want to encourage ordinary, inadequate people to find
IMMENSE TASK
GOD’S GLORY
their place in God’s story. We have a command to ‘preach the Gospel to every creature’ which we strive to do in partnership with evangelistic, compassionate and training ministries in Africa. We want to be able to help you find how you can use the gifts that God has given you to serve Him.
Summer Madness, Keswick Portstewart and Keswick Cumbria are 3 events that MA attended throughout July to share of ways in which you can partner with us. During August, you’ll see us at New Horizon, Keswick Buckie and Bangor Worldwide.
We are thankful for the opportunity to attend each of these and be part of reaching the unreached.

MA ‘OUT N’ ABOUT’
MA have been ‘out and about’ at various church services, mid-week meetings and groups sharing about who we are, what we do and why we do it. It has been a real joy and a privilege to be invited to share about how God is using Mission Africa to partner with national churches and organisations in Africa for mutual edification and evangelism.
We have been able to share about our history of partnership and how that same truth echoes in all that we do today. We are always keen

to share updates with churches and organisations who support us, but equally, we’d love to be invited to new places; to somewhere where MA is not yet known.
If you’d like us to come and share at your church or organisation, please do get in touch. There’s a contact section on our website; www.missionafrica. org.uk/contact where you can fill out details of your event and we will respond to your invitation. We look forward to partnering with you as we share more about the work of MA.

It is hard to believe we are now 8 months in to Come See Go Tell 2025. What a year it has been so far! This year, at our June Celebration we sang the song ‘His Glory and My Good’ of which the following words stand out:
‘Would I gladly be made nothing That Christ would be made more?
Would I seek the only kingdom That far outweighs them all?
I will stand before my Father here the faithful saints have stood
And with joy, my heart shall praise Him.
For His glory and my good’
The words ‘would I gladly be made nothing that Christ would be made more’ echo our heart for Come See Go Tell. That each volunteer would lower themselves as they serve so that it is Christ who is magnified, not them, and that our partnering ministries in Kenya and Nigeria would see Christ.
This year we have had the joy of journeying alongside over 75 volunteers through our discipleship programme. Volunteers of all ages and stages, and many serving with us who have served on teams before!
Some of the highlights this year so far have included our monthly Monday night gatherings, visits to Lurgan College to run the programme after school, a weekend away with the High Kirk Presbyterian Church team and our orientation day.
As we reflect on the year so far, no credit can be awarded to the efforts of the
volunteers or the office staff team, but solely to God’s grace. As Paul reminds us in 1 Corinthians 15:10, it is by the grace of God that we find our identity, purpose and calling, and it is through God’s grace that our work is fuelled.
Please continue to pray for the Come See Go Tell programme as we continue to meet in the coming months to reflect on all the various programmes and ministries that will have taken place across the summer. Would these short-term opportunities not be trips, but transformational, all for His glory and our good.
‘But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace toward me was not in vain. On the contrary, I worked harder than any of them, though it was not I, but the grace of God that is with me’ - 1 Cor 15:10, ESV

ANOTHER CHANGE...
MA has seen quite a few changes over the last few years. At the end of September, we will be saying goodbye to Catherine Pope, our Short Term Coordinator. Catherine has been working in Mission Africa for the past 3 years; initially as maternity cover, then youth and schools ministry and since October 2024, she has created and developed our Come See Go Tell short term discipleship programme, which has seen over 75 people serve in Africa this summer.
Catherine has been offered an exciting opportunity of further study to complete a PHD through Queens University over the next 3 years.
Catherine will be a huge loss to us as an office team, to those she has built relationships with through CSGT and with many supporters within MA. We have recently advertised for Catherine’s role, and it is our hope that we will have someone to fill the position by mid-September.
Whilst we at MA are sad to see her leave, we are extremely excited for what God has in store for her future.
Join us in praying for Catherine and David in this next chapter of their lives.

KENYA

MEET ELLEN
Ellen Gilmour, along with Ruth Carson served in Kenya in May. They both previously completed their medical electives in 2024 and had a real desire to return this year and show Christ’s love through their medical skills. Ellen writes;
In May this year, I had the incredible opportunity to return to Kenya with my best friend, Ruth. We’d previously visited for our medical elective last year, so it was a joy to see familiar faces again! This time we spent our days at Chogoria Hospital, which was about four hours from Nairobi. We stayed within a compound which was also home to local doctors and their families, and long-term American missionary families. Everyone was so welcoming!
One of the best parts of our stay was sharing dinners and fellowship with an amazing group of American nurses from Jamestown University in North Dakota who were also volunteering in the hospital. Their kindness and shared
sense of purpose made each evening special.
In the hospital, I was based in the paediatric ward, caring for children up to 16 years old. Healthcare there is vastly different from the UK; patients must pay upfront, and illnesses like TB and meningitis are worryingly common. The ward’s poor ventilation and hygiene were stark reminders of global disparities in care. Despite the challenges, the experience was deeply enriching and gave me a glimpse into what medical mission work could be like.
Beyond the hospital, we visited a local girls’ boarding school and attended church on Sunday. The worship was
powerful, full of dancing, joyful singing, and instruments. It was truly a blessing to be part of it. We also had the chance to hike in Mount Kenya National Park, which was absolutely breathtaking, and we were even able to spot a leopard!
A core memory from the trip was meeting Anne; a final year nursing student at Chogoria Hospital. She invited me to play volleyball each evening, and soon I was part of their nightly matches, a highlight of my time there! Anne also welcomed us to her church, and we’ve stayed in contact

since. I feel incredibly blessed to have met her and hope our friendship lasts a lifetime.
Above all, this trip was a testimony to God’s goodness and the amazing ways He is working in Kenya. It was such a joy to share the gospel and talk to people about Jesus; about His love, His sacrifice, and the hope He offers to all of us.
Proverbs 27v9 “Sweet friendships refresh the soul and awaken our hearts with joy”!

6 WEEKS IN KENYA

Hello, my name is Sarah, and I am 22 years old and have just returned home from serving in Kenya for 6 weeks. My time was split between two different ministries with which MA partner. I was involved in teaching and social work at Karai School/Orphanage, and I was also involved in the kids ministry at Gracepoint Church Waiyaki Way.
During my time at Karai, I got to work alongside their staff team to help support the children who stayed at the orphanage. I helped with their schoolwork, chores and general needs. The children, whilst still so young, had faced many challenges in life already. From the beginning, I felt a deep sense of care for these children
as God gave me the desire to lead them to Him in any way I could. I found that spending quality time with each child was so important as many had few people who would give them time and attention. I am so grateful for the regular contact that I had with the children, which allowed me to get to know each of them individually. Over time, some began opening up to me more, allowing me to better listen and support them on both their good and bad days.
A particular highlight for me was being given the opportunity to teach in the school.

Whilst pushing me out of my comfort zone, and often with little time to prepare, I am so thankful for the
opportunities I got to take RE lessons. I found that these moments were Godgiven and became a perfect means to teach from the Bible in a simple and engaging way that helped the children truly understand what they were learning. With the prevalence of the prosperity gospel, I felt more and more compelled to use any chance I got, not just help practically, but to share the true gospel with the children whom God so kindly put on my heart.
At Gracepoint Church, I quickly became involved with their mother and tots, kids club and Sunday school. I loved the freedom I had to be creative in the kids work and learnt a lot about leaning on God for wisdom and courage when I felt weak in my capabilities. I really enjoyed my time here and was deeply impacted by the church and the friends I met. It was wonderful to hear the biblical gospel preached and a truly beautiful thing to worship together with new friends in a different culture.
What stands out to me most, is the honest humility of the staff team at Gracepoint and their total devotion to God. Their openness to befriend me and encourage me from the beginning was heart-warming. I was challenged by their boldness in always sharing the gospel, not simply when they were working. Often, when I heard them
telling others the gospel, I found myself moved time and time again by the wonder, joy and awe of the assurance we as believers have of knowing our sins forgiven!

In just 6 weeks, Gracepoint felt like family, and I have truly been so impacted by the faith and love of the people I met there.
I have learnt so much during my time in Kenya, and I am so grateful to God for the children and the friends I met who have touched my heart. My prayer is that God will continue to embolden us in Northern Ireland in our faith, that we would also live boldly for God, knowing the joy of being held so securely in his loving hands as we follow him.

CHAD
‘The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps.’
Proverbs 16:9
‘Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand.’
Proverbs 19:21
REACHING CHAD
David Morrison
I don’t know about you, but there are times in our lives where we feel like we are in total control, making all the decisions, and things are going exactly the way we think they should be. Then...there are times where God orchestrates circumstances to shake us out of this illusion and remind us that He is the one in control; going before us, guiding our steps, and working all things ‘for His glory and my good.’*
Here are two examples of that in our ministry in Chad:
The progress of the Acacia ministry continues to point us back to these truths. When we first made plans to come to Chad, Lucy never imagined being the one who would solely run

the Acacia ministry. She still feels totally underqualified to do this, and had we followed our plans of what we thought was best, this never would have been the case. And yet, this has created a scenario where Chadians such as Fiona have been able to step up and take on responsibilities that we probably never would have given her had we had the full expat team that we hoped for.
Over the last few months, we have been home in the UK for maternity leave, where we welcomed our 3rd daughter; Amy Hope into the world on 16th April. Whilst at home, Fiona has continued running some activities at the Acacia centre, assisted once per week by our colleague Laura. Those
of you who have followed our journey, know that our conviction from the moment we arrived in Chad in 2018 has been for Acacia to become a Chadian-led ministry one day. What that will look like or when that will be, we do not know. But what we do know is that God’s purposes for it will.
At the beginning of June, the United States imposed a visa ban on citizens from several countries, including Chad. Almost immediately, Chad followed suit in a ‘tit-for-tat’ response. We imagined this to be a typical knee-jerk response that would be resolved in a matter of weeks. Sadly, it has not. This has had an enormous impact on mission organisations within Chad. Some of our colleagues have already had to leave the country and it seems even within TEAM (The Evangelical Alliance Mission), the North American mission with which we partner in Chad, if nothing changes, the last of our 15 American colleagues will have to leave by Spring of next year. There are two things to say here:
Firstly, please pray with us for a swift resolution to this visa ban. Whether it be a total lifting of the ban, or an exemption to be made for missionaries to enable the gospel to still be shared in Chad. As we met as a leadership team to pray over the ban and its implications, we found it intriguing that
this has come at a time when TEAM Global is putting a lot of energy into mobilising workers from the majority world. Not only that, but they are also considering Chad as a prime field to begin receiving them. Could it be that God is preparing to do something new? Do we have our eyes open to perceive it?
Don’t get me wrong, I can’t see a perpetual ban on US Americans being anything but disastrous, and we as a field covet your prayers for this ban to be lifted. But God is using this situation to remind us that His purposes alone will prevail, and to encourage us to hold our plans loosely and walk with our ‘faith eyes’ wide open.
Secondly, I wonder what your circumstances are – are you currently living as if you’re in charge and content that everything is going according to your plan? Or are you currently in the middle of a storm with no visible way out? Either way, let’s together take courage in God’s prevailing providential purposes (alliteration was a happy coincidence!) and “in faith, follow Jesus on the road not understood, [knowing] that He is working for His glory and my good.”
*City Alight - His Glory and My Good.

DISCIPLE MAKERS
He told them, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.”
Luke 10:2
20 million Chadians, many of whom have never heard the Gospel.
The need is great, The challenges are manifold, But the door is open.
There is a small team in the East of Chad who need co-workers to partner with them as they build relationships, study language and culture and begin to make disciples where Christ is not yet known.
Is the Lord challenging you about being part of what He is doing in making His name great among the nations? We would love for you to speak to us to find out more about how you could be used by Him to make disciples among the unreached in Chad.

MINISTRY TO THE FULANI
David Onouche
The message of Jesus’ resurrection is an urgent message. May God give us the grace we need and sacrifice all we need to take this urgent message to those who are yet to hear.”
David Onuche is one of our Nigerian mission partners who has worked closely with Mission Africa for decades, seeking to reach the unreached, particularly the Fulani.
The Fulani are a semi-nomadic Islamic people group who inhabit and roam around much of northern Nigeria and beyond. Much of the violence we hear of in the news in this area is directly linked to this people group who, are largely opposed to outsiders and the Gospel.
Ministries that David is currently involved in are house-to-house evangelism as well as taking the Gospel to neighbourhoods and marketplaces. This is met, at times with resistance, and David asks that we uphold him and the Fulani believers in prayer. He writes, “because the presence of God is permanently with us, we always have breakthrough.”
A focus of ministry is the wives of the Fulani converts. While these women are discipled, they are also taught some basic skills to help them be selfsustaining.
David and his team also have a school for Fulani children from nursery to primary 6. The school is offered free to children and serves as a place to not only receive an education but also to be taught Scripture. David looks to the Lord to supply the needs of the school and 4 teaching staff. He writes, “only the mercy and the love of God has been helping us for the past 7 years, to Him alone be all the glory.”
Some of the readers will be aware of a long and difficult history of ministry among the Bassa people. This year the Nasarawa state government has asked the Bassa people who have been displaced through conflict to return to their ancestral home. Pray that this decision will bring many people into contact with the Gospel.
David wants to pass on his thanks to those of you who pray for him, his family, the team and the Fulani disciples. Let us continue to ask the Lord to provide others to help in reaching the Fulani and especially for Fulani believers to continue the work.

PROJECT SURGE
You’ll remember from our January Dispatch that alongside our Nigerian partners, we were planning a project in April called Surge. Project Surge is a programme designed for teenage girls; to mentor and build confidence in them through Christ-centred relationships, life-skills training and interactive learning with the hope to encourage spiritual growth, personal development and leadership training.
The mission of Surge is to develop personal character, abilities and skills which will teach the girls ways to discover how to serve others and most
especially to lead others to come to know Christ.
In April, Surge took place and was led by Mary and Deborah, two of the ladies who work for Advance in Abuja. 53 girls attended the programme, which was held over 3 days during their Easter break from school.
Each day, the girls met and participated in sessions and workshops on self-esteem, emotions, personal hygiene and relationships. During each of these sessions, the gospel message was intertwined, giving the girls a

challenge on how to live out a gospel centred life in their community and be given skills to share the Good News with others.
The photos above show how successful the 3 days were. With thanks to the generous donations from Hamilton Baptist in Scotland, we were able to send each girl home with gift box to help maintain their personal hygiene, but more importantly, each girl went home filled with excitement to share of what they learnt with their friends and family.
‘Defend the weak and the fatherless; uphold the cause of the poor and the oppressed.’
Psalm 82:3

BURKINA FASO
TWO YEARS ON...
Jeremy Nash

Association Gamaliel has now completed two academic years of ministry and in that time has grown from 568 schools to 850, a growth of 50%. Numbers are important as every single child is known and loved by God and we want to see every child given the opportunity to understand the gospel message.
Gamaliel was the pharisee whom we read about in Acts. He trained up the Apostle Paul under his ministry. Join us in praying that God would raise up ‘apostle Paul’ type people who live wholeheartedly for the Lord in sharing their faith with others.
Burkina Faso has recently undergone an administrative adjustment creating new provinces and regions.
Association Gamaliel’s aim is to have a presence in every province, however this is not currently possible with the security situation and with so many schools closed through terrorist threat and activity.
Two children attending our course thwarted a terrorist attack. They had seen less and less of their father for several months, and then one day he
said goodbye to them and told them he was fleeing. He couldn’t bring himself to be one of the terrorists attacking his own village and knew refusal meant death, so he fled. When their class teacher heard from the boys that an attack was planned for the following Monday, he got the headmaster to cancel school for that day. Moreover, they warned some other schools in the village which took heed and also closed. When the attack took place, there were no children or staff in classes, so all were kept safe. Continue to pray for peace, for the terrorists to stop what they are doing and to realise what they are doing is evil, impoverishing lives and killing people.
For more on the security situation in Burkina Faso, you can read the BBC link from July 7th 2025 (www.bbc. co.uk/news/articles/cg4r5wylwq6o)
It struck me recently, that over half the children Association Gamaliel are reaching, are Muslim who would probably never get to hear the gospel message otherwise. The Explorers Course has an immediate impact on their understanding of God and we frequently hear testimonies that it also leads to improved behaviour and attitudes within the class. Because of improved academic results, we find headmasters are keen to have
us continue running the clubs. This permission from the authorities is crucial and still lacking in some places we would like to work.
The team in Burkina do amazingly well. There is a National Coordinating Committee of 6 people; pictured and then Regional Coordinators of 9 regions. We then have committees running each centre (approx 50 centres) and finally a person who teaches the course and marks the homework (850 clubs). Association Gamaliel cover their expenses but is looking to local churches in Burkina Faso to increasingly support the ministry and become involved. We want the local church to be seen, not Gamaliel. If the local church honours the work of the school and is seen to take an interest in the flourishing of children, then the whole community will regard the church more favourably and hopefully be more open to the gospel. In the end, the children who come to faith should join and be discipled within that local church.
As in previous years, our operating costs remain at approximately £30,000 per year. I communicate with the Mission Africa office when to send the money to the Association Gamaliel account. This may be less than required because funds are not always sufficient.
Please contact myself; jeremyandrachelnash@googlemail.com for further details or a breakdown of costs.
This ministry cannot continue to operate without your financial support so please prayerfully consider a gift via the MA office to Association Gamaliel and schools’ ministry in Burkina Faso. Gifts can also be made through Mission Africa’s website and selecting Association Gamaliel as the project.
We also subsidise children’s school fees through the poor fund. We offer a set amount of £23 for up to three children chosen through the committee of each centre. This is the base amount, but school fees vary, so may be higher than this but keeping all subsidies at £23 is the easiest way administratively to help.
Association Gamaliel has helped 172 children. The poor fund also pays for
medical interventions, salaries for two teachers in a school that needs help in getting established and house rent for a missionary pastor as he plants a church in the Ivory Coast.
This year we would like to make sure all the Dagari who feel called to Bible School are able to go. They need to have been vetted by their local church and still may have insufficient support from their church due to poverty or its small size, or even because it is currently paying the fees for students who are already studying.
This surely is a brilliant way to use our finances to extend God’s kingdom.
Thank you so much for your continued prayerful and financial support for Association Gamaliel and partnering with us to reach children in Burkina Faso with the Good News of Jesus.
