Virginia Beach establishment placed off-limits to Navy personnel From Navy Region Mid-Atlantic Public Affairs The civilian business establishment Coast 2 Coast Auto Sales has been formally placed off-limits to all military personnel in the Hampton Roads area by the Joint Armed Forces Disciplinary Control Board (JAFDCB) for Southeastern Virginia and Northeastern North Carolina. The business, located on 1305 Oceana Blvd., Virginia Beach, was placed off-limits May 23 by Rear Adm.Tim Alexander, commander, Navy Region Mid-Atlantic.The business was notified by letter earlier that week. The JAFDCB works closely with businesses that are considered for the off-limits list to avoid these actions. Mitigation efforts demonstrated by area businesses and communication to the board by the business more often have favorable results. Establishments are given the opportunity to notify the JAFDCB in writing that corrective actions have taken place. Removal from the list will be considered by the board upon presentation that satisfactory corrective action has been taken. Failure to respond will result in the board making a request for establishment representatives to appear in person at a formal hearing of the JAFDCB. Keep What You’ve Earned kicks off long weekend at Oceana BY CATHY HEIMER Jet Observer Standing on the sidewalk along the outbound lanes of the main and back gates at Naval Air Station Oceana, and at Dam Neck Annex, first class and chief petty officers braved the rain May 24 to bring an important message directly to Sailors on their way off base to enjoy the long Memorial Day weekend: “Keep What You’ve Earned

(KWYE).” KWYE is a Navywide campaign, launched April 1 to remind Sailors of how important it is to drink responsibly and how much they could lose if they make poor decisions about alcohol. “The ultimate goal in this, that we’re trying to implement in a lot of different programs, is bystander invention. We’ve got to be proactive, try to get them to think about the decisions they make, the con-

sequences of losing some or all of what they’ve worked hard to achieve. We want them to think about what they could lose when they make these terrible decisions,” said Oceana’s Command Master (AW/SW) Chief Eric T. Clark, who promoted KWYE by holding up a sign at the front gate. That idea was echoed by Senior Chief Avionics Electronics Technician (AT) (AW/SW) Eric Bleadingheiser. “We’re trying to get the

younger Sailors especially, to think about what they’re doing before they go out on this long weekend or possibly get into any trouble that might come along,” said Bleadingheiser as he held his large blue sign at Oceana’s main gate. Bleadingheiser, from 600 Division at Fleet Readiness Center MidAtlantic (FRCMA) Oceana, said he
