COMMISSARY The Defense Commissary Agency’s Fort Eustis Commissary, located at 1382 Lee Blvd., supports military readiness and retention by proudly providing a cornerstone non-pay benefit. This benefit enhances quality of life through the resale of brandname goods at the lowest possible cost to military members, retirees and their families. The Commissary features 15 full service registers and four express self-service registers. It is open six days a week (closed Mondays). It serves an average of nearly 55,000 customers monthly. Shoppers buy products at cost, without profit or sales tax, and save at least 30 percent on their grocery bills. More than 20,000 different items are available, with specialty departments including a full-service deli, bakery, hot foods and seafood department. An extensive fresh produce department and meat department top off the store’s services. Complimentary coffee is available from 9 to 11 a.m. daily at the Commissary entrance. Stop by for cold sandwiches, fresh made Sushi, fruit, drinks and other lunch items at the handy Grab ‘N Go quick meal section. A cashier and register are there for your convenience from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The Commissary has a special-order program for all departments. For example, the deli/bakery offers specialoccasion cakes and party trays featuring items such as sub sandwiches, pastries, cookies, fruits and veggies. Disabled patrons may shop 30 minutes before normal opening times, Tuesday through Saturday, and motorized carts are available. The Commissary accepts food stamps, WIC checks, coupons and most major credit and debit cards. Anyone may purchase Commissary gift vouchers at the Commissary, but only authorized patrons can use them. Personal checks are accepted in amounts up to $25 over the total purchase. A 5 percent surcharge is added to each purchase, used for the construction of new stores and renovation of existing facilities. For more information, call 878-5966, ext. 221, or visit the Web
