We offer traditional classroom and online classes as well as certificate programs to meet your individual learning needs.

This class is designed to educate and empower students to use and interact with a wide variety of workout equipment. All students will receive instruction in a wide variety of exercises to help them customize a workout routine appropriate for their fitness level outside of the class. Feel comfortable and confident learning proper mechanics and working out in a weight room only open to this class.

BASIC LIFE SUPPORT PROVIDER (CPR)

Basic Life Support Provider course is designed to teach CPR skills to aid victims of all ages. The use of AED, ventilation with barrier devices and relief of foreign body airway obstructions are taught. This course is relevant for those who provide care to patients in both the hospital and pre-hospital environments. Completion leads to a certification card that is valid for two years.

FUNERAL MYTH BUSTERS

While not a popular topic of discussion, preparing for one’s death can have a huge impact on family members. Choices you make now can help ease the burden for your loved ones later. Learn the decision you can make today regarding funeral planning and the appropriate legal work that can and should be done ahead of time. These decisions can make a difficult time a little less confusing.

HEARTSAVER CPR, FIRST AID & AED

Learn the hands-on skills needed for a first responder. Class includes CPR/AED, first aid for choking (including pediatric emergency first response) and how to manage illness and injuries before help arrives. Create decorated cookies for your fall gatherings this season; learn the tips and tricks from a master baker! SOURDOUGH CLASS

Come learn with us about Sourdough! This class will teach you all about sourdough—the terminology used when making sourdough, and tips, tricks and recipes. The instructor will demonstrate how to feed the starter, mix the dough, shape a loaf, and score a loaf. The registration fee will include an active starter and a blade for scoring. Students will need to bring a pint jar with a lid to take home the starter. They also need to bring a spoon or spatula that is long and skinny enough to reach the bottom of the jar in order to stir their starter.

INTERMEDIATE SCRATCH PROGRAMMING

Following the 321Make Design Process, students will continue their exploration of the Scratch programming language. This intermediate level class starts with students creating three projects following step-by-step instructions. Then they will design two projects using skills they’ve just learned. Finally, they will invent a project—programming and building a virtual pet, character, or nature simulation that users can interact with.

DRIVERS EDUCATION

Drivers Education teaches teens the basic traffic laws, driver awareness, rules of the road and basic motor vehicle operation. This class consists of 20 classroom hours and five hours of drive time. Driving session will be separate from class time. Students must be 14-18 years old, attend all sessions, have a learner’s permit before class begins and meet all drive requirements in order to obtain the Drive Test Waiver. The Nebraska DMV reserves the right to test anyone at any time. A book will be provided.

SMALL ENGINE REPAIR & MAINTENANCE TRAINING FOR THE FUTURE TRADESMAN

Jumpstart your hands-on career with our Small Engine Repair & Maintenance Training—a classroom-based course with handson labs designed for individuals eager to enter the trades. This course covers essential safety practices, basic engine theory and diagnostic techniques, ensuring you can confidently work with small engines. You’ll gain hands-on experience with tools and equipment, learning to troubleshoot and repair common engine issues like fuel system clogs, ignition failures and worn components. From fuel and lubrication systems to electrical troubleshooting, you’ll develop practical skills that translate directly to real-world jobs. If you prefer working with your hands over sitting for months in a lecture hall, this training is your gateway into a rewarding career in the skilled trades!

Students should bring: a small engine (lawn mower or snow blower preferred, not required) Maintenance items to match supplied machine (spark plugs, air filters, etc.) 10W-30 motor oil, safety glasses and gloves. Will break for lunch.

DOT COMMERCIAL LEARNER’S PERMIT (CLP) PREP CLASS

Do you need your CDL? This course is designed to provide material relevant to obtaining your Commercial Driver’s Permit and covers topics from general knowledge to air brakes and combination vehicles. Our goal is to prepare students to successfully complete the CLP testing.

ENTRY LEVEL DRIVER TRAINING (ELDT)

Instruction focuses on fundamental basics needed to become a professional driver. Topics range from basic vehicle operation to whistleblower protection. Labs are hands-on training for the driver, enabling them to conduct a proper pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip (DVIR) inspections, proper hooking and unhooking procedures, and sliding of tandems and fifth wheels. Behind-the-wheel training is just that. Driver trainees will learn how to maneuver a tractor-trailer around tight corners, make proper lane changes and drive in traffic. They will also learn and become proficient in backing and docking. At the end of this training, there will be a CDL Skills tests for the driver trainee to get their CDL License. A major part of all instruction within this program deals with the safety and professionalism of the driver.

HAZARDOUS MATERIAL ENDORSEMENT DRIVER TRAINING

This is an entry-level driver Training approved theory course. The course covers rules, regulations and safety practices when hauling hazardous materials. A book will be provided for this class.

ONE-ON-ONE COMPUTER TRAINING

This learning opportunity is designed for the person who wants one-on-one attention, giving personalized attention on the computer topic that meets your specific need. The class takes place in one of our training rooms. You may use your own laptop, or one provided by the college, depending upon needs. Call 3448604 visit with someone about one-on-one computer training. Cost is determined by the number of hours and type of training.

FORKLIFT-SCISSOR LIFT-TELEHANDLER TRAINING

Available upon request. Call to set up a class instructed by BJ Schellenberg, Common Sense Safety.

In an effort to deter substance abuse and to make sure alcohol does not end up in the wrong hands, Community Connections and the North Platte Police Department have teamed up to educate those who sell and serve alcohol. Preregistration is not necessary.

The Trauma Nursing Core course is a two-day course designed by the Emergency Nurses Association for RNs. It is designed to provide the learner with basic trauma knowledge & psychomotor skills. LPNs, Respiratory Care and Paramedics may attend for CEU’s, but will not receive a course completion card or take part in testing. Completion leads to a certification card that is valid for four years. It is required that you review your student manual and complete the 8 interactive online modules. Modules must be complete prior to the first day of class or you will not be allowed to proceed. You must bring your student manual to class.

This is an Entry Level Driver Training approved theory course. A theory course must be completed before taking the hazmat endorsement class. The course will cover rules, regulations and safety practices when hauling hazardous materials. Instructor Will Cleveland has 17 years of law enforcement experience.

A book will be provided for this class.

MOTORCYCLE SAFETY FOUNDATION BASIC RIDER COURSE

The Basic Rider Course is based on the Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) curriculum. Riders can get a license and learn essential riding skills in one course. MSF designed the BRC for beginning riders with no previous riding experience, and it’s also recommended for returning riders. Students are required to complete the MSF eCourse online prior to the class start date. Students can take the eCourse for free and will receive instructions upon full registration.

DRIVER EDUCATION

The Driver Education is an essential first step to learning safe, lifelong driving skills. Driving is one of the first major responsibilities in a teen’s life. Driver Education teaches teens basic traffic laws, driver awareness, rules of the road, and basic motor vehicle operation. This course consists of 20 hours of classroom time and 5 hours of driving time as required by the Nebraska DMV. The class prepares drivers for licensure by awarding a Drive Test Waiver upon satisfactory completion. Minimum student age is 14. This class is intended for entry level drivers ages 14-17. Using watercolor paper as a substrate, we will explore the process of using products that resist absorption of watercolor and then use acrylic mediums to add collage. Regardless of whether there is a prior connection, onboarding plays a vital role in providing new employees with an overview of the operation, familiarizing them with employment policies, introducing them to colleagues and suppliers, and outlining their job duties. Proper onboarding helps employees understand their responsibilities, encourages open communication and supports long-term employee retention.

GEOMETRIC OUTDOOR BARN QUILT (3X3)

Paint an outdoor barn quilt that will last. Wood is not used. Choose from 48+ patterns and a rainbow of colors the day of class. Designs range from simple to complex.

You will need to bring yellow Delicate Frogtape (1.41 width is best-it can be purchased at a hardware store), hair dryer and a heavy-duty extension cord.

FROM SNOWFLAKES TO SEASHELLS (AGES 5-ADULT)

Come join us as we create a beautiful take home gift for you or your loved one. We will transform ordinary seashells into decorative objects. If you have a patterned napkin/tissue paper that you love and would like to use, please bring it to class with you. Class size is limited.

Teaches flexibility, coordination, self-defense, discipline, and most importantly, self-awareness. The class philosophy is that one becomes more confident physically, in turn, one becomes more confident mentally.

PRESSED FLOWERS & TEA TASTING

Create effortlessly beautiful pieces from real pressed flowers and greenery. Topics include: the basics of flower pressing, and the history of this practice. All supplies provided to create an 8x8 pressed flower art piece, and choice of a bookmark or greeting cards to decorate. Participants will also sample several loose-leaf teas. Sundresses/Sunday best attire is highly encouraged but not required!

CHICKEN BARN QUILT OR GEOMETRIC BARN QUILT

In this class you will paint a 2-foot by 2-foot aluminum composite material outdoor barn quilt with outdoor paint. You do not need to be an artist, and you do not need a barn to put it on-they go everywhere! If you choose the Backyard Delight Chicken design, it will be drawn and ready for colors to be assigned to each block and taping. The Geometric option is a gridded blank that is compatible to 48 design options on a pattern board that is explained the day of class. Eight colors are included.

ENTRY LEVEL DRIVER TRAINING (ELDT) FOR CDL CLASS A OR CLASS B

Nov 17-Dec 19 | DL in Benkelman, Driver training in Imperial Instruction focuses on fundamental basics needed to become a professional driver. Topics range from basic vehicle operation to whistle blower protections. Labs are hands-on training for the driver enabling them to conduct a proper pre-trip, en-route, and post trip (DVIR) inspections, proper hooking and unhooking procedures, sliding of tandems and fifth wheels. Behind-the-wheel training is just that. Driver trainees will learn how to maneuver a tractor-trailer around tight corners, make proper lane changes, and drive in traffic. They also will learn and become proficient in backing and docking.

At the end of this training, there will be a CDL Skills tests for the driver trainee to get their CDL License. A major part of all instruction within this program deals with the safety and professionalism of the driver.

HAZARDOUS MATERIAL ENDORSEMENT DRIVER TRAINING

This is an Entry Level Driver Training approved theory course. A theory course must be completed before taking the hazmat endorsement class. The course will cover rules, regulations and safety practices when hauling hazardous materials. Instructor Will Cleveland has 17 years of law enforcement experience. A book will be provided for this class.
