Matt Reed, Pawnee Tribal Historic Preservation Officer from Pawnee, OK, will guide us through the story of this historical day.
Participants will travel to Massacre Canyon at Trenton for a firsthand look at the actual site and the monument commemorating the last Indian battle on the Plains. Reed, along with Tom Baker, farmer, educator, historian, and former Nebraska legislator and Cathy Upton, educator and passionate Hitchcock County historian, will share the stories and artifacts of this epic event. The tour will continue to the ArtBank McCook to experience John Thein’s Wounded Knee collection. Registration is required.

Do you need your CDL? This course is designed to provide material relevant to obtaining your Commercial Driver’s Permit and covers topics from general knowledge to air brakes and combination vehicles. Our goal is to prepare students to successfully complete the CLP testing.
This learning opportunity is designed for the person who wants one-on-one attention, giving personalized attention on the computer topic that meets your specific need. Class takes place in one of our training rooms. You may use your own laptop, or one provided by the college, depending upon needs. Each year, thousands of injuries related to forklift and warehouse equipment accidents occur in the U.S. Unfortunately, most employee injuries and property damage can be attributed to lack of safe operating procedures, lack of safety-rule enforcement and insufficient or inadequate training. As it is a violation of Federal law for anyone UNDER 18 years of age to operate a forklift or for anyone OVER 18 years of age who is not properly trained to do so, this class will OSHA train and qualify students to legally operate a forklift, scissor lift, telehandler, and skid steer. A certificate of completion will be offered upon conclusion of the class. Customized training upon request.

LEVEL DRIVER TRAINING (ELDT) FOR CDL CLASS A OR CLASS B

Instruction focuses on fundamental basics needed to become a professional driver. Topics range from basic vehicle operation to whistle blower protections. Labs are hands-on training for the driver enabling them to conduct a proper pre-trip, enroute and post trip (DVIR) inspections, proper hooking and unhooking procedures, sliding of tandems and fifth wheels. Behind-the-wheel training is just that. Driver trainees will learn how to maneuver a tractor-trailer around tight corners, make proper lane changes and drive in traffic. They also will learn and become proficient in backing and docking.
At the end of this training, Central States Safety and Driver Training will administer the necessary CDL Skills tests for the driver trainee to get their CDL License. Must register by phone 308-535-3687

The Basic Rider Course is based on the Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) curriculum. Riders can get a license and learn essential riding skills in one course. MSF designed the BRC for beginning riders with no previous riding experience, and it’s also recommended for returning riders. Students are required to complete the MSF eCourse online prior to the class start date. Students can take the eCourse for free and will receive instructions upon full registration.

Come join us and learn the craft of watercolor painting. The class will be taught by Lester Lee, Art instructor from Utah. He is a multiple award-winning painter and winner of teacher of the year! Learn the hands-on approach to emergency, focusing on the skills needed for a first responder. Class includes CPR/AED, first aid for choking (including pediatric emergency first response) and how to manage illness and injuries before help arrives. This course is designed to introduce basic concepts of quantitative EEG analysis aka brain mapping and neurofeedback for the identification and treatment of brain related disorders such as epilepsy, depression, anxiety, learning disorders, attentional disorders such as ADHD, oppositional behaviors, sensory processing issues and sleep disorders. Participants will engage in the brain mapping process and will be exposed to the reading and interpretation of their raw EEG data. The theory and application of neurofeedback current EEG amplifiers, training software and EEG research will be presented. Join in a neurofeedback training session based on EEG brain maps, as well as observe other participants undergoing training.

In 2019, Nebraska passed a bill (LB 304) allowing individuals to sell homemade foods already authorized for sale at farmers’ markets directly to consumers from the producer’s home, fairs, festivals, other public events or online for pick-up or delivery—all within the state of Nebraska.
On July 19, 2024, Nebraska updated the cottage food law with LB262. This expanded the types of foods cottage food producers could sell, including some that are considered TCS foods. Learn more about the regulations to sell and fulfill the requirements to become a registered cottage food producer by taking this class.
