4-H Summer Workshops are learning experiences offered by Extension staff and 4-H volunteers. Our programs are designed to provide engaging hands-on education for youth of all ages. A workshop is a great way for youth to make new friends, learn new skills or spark a new interest! Please take note of suggested age requirements when selecting classes. Youth do not have to be enrolled in 4-H to register for workshops. Projects made during classes can be entered in the Lincoln, Logan or McPherson County Fair!

Learn to make a homemade 12-inch wreath that can be decorated for any holiday or door. Youth will learn how to form vines into a wreath shape and what it takes to make it last. Participants should bring their own embellishments: ribbons, bow, pinecones or other similar-sized decorations.

Learn basic cake decorating skills using buttercream frosting and beginning decorating techniques. Youth are encouraged to bring at least one-star tip and one line (writing) to the workshop. Each youth must bring 12 baked cupcakes ready for decorating.

Beginning skills on a sewing machine will be covered. Each participant will make a pin cushion and a 4-4 patch pillow. Participants should bring a sewing machine, basic sewing notions including a black and white spool of thread and bobbin, two pieces of felt, any color and 1/3 yard of 2 contrasting woven fabrics for their pillow. A machine can be borrowed for an additional $10.

Participants will learn about what it takes to maximize their performance while developing an understanding of nutrition, weight training and how to properly incorporate it all into their daily routine. Get ready to have a *balloon-tastic* time this summer! In this fun-filled class, kids will learn how to twist and shape balloons into all kinds of cool animals and creations. With easy-to-follow instructions, they’ll discover how to turn simple balloons into colorful works of art. Whether it’s for a party or just for fun, this class will let their creativity *pop*! This summer class makes math exciting and accessible for elementary students! Through engaging games, hands-on activities and interactive lessons, students will develop a solid understanding of foundational math concepts such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions and basic geometry. By the end of the course, students will have enhanced their problem-solving skills and confidence in math. Activities include math scavenger hunts, interactive math puzzles and group challenges designed to make learning enjoyable while reinforcing important math skills. This class fosters teamwork, critical thinking and a love for learning through math.

Get ready to take your animation skills to the next level!
Animation 2.0 builds on the basic approaches and concepts from our other animation offerings!
In this camp, we will continue building on animation as a versatile and nearly limitless way to express yourself! This camp will incorporate digital animation in procreate and encompass intermediate level animation methods and theories focusing on character animation!
Students 13-15 years need to have participated in a Calibraska animation offering in the past. Open to college age and older students as well!

In this class we will play games incorporating play and art in unique ways! Each Student will learn a fun game to play beyond the class that stimulates creativity and helps build their creativity and their skills in drawing, creative thinking and more!
We will utilize the Calibraska ‘stash’ of art materials ranging from colored pencils, markers, clay and animation goodies to allow students to experiment and try new things! Many of these activities were developed by our founder over her 20+ years teaching art, animation and media.

We’ve created a series of special single session workshops for younger creatives to learn basic animation concepts and see their creations come to life!

We are a youth swim club that focuses on teaching and increasing the skill level of swimmers. Coaches are experienced swimmers and teachers who work with small groups to build skill, strength, stamina and confidence for all youth involved. Swimmer skill levels vary from beginner to competitive swimmers who compete at the state and regional levels. Swim club is flexible for families who are involved with many activities. We also offer fall/winter/spring swim clinics on Saturday mornings.
