TRAVEL TIPS & TRICKS

One o f t h e very best things I did was to get registered as a known traveler through the TSA, it allows me to move through security much faster, and helps me to get to my gate easier with far less hassle. I know not everyone will agree with this or may not want to do this, but for me, it was one of the easiest and most time-saving things I have done.

TO HELP YOU GET THERE

When you are going to a conference training or event, plan it out over time such as booking your hotel in advance. I like to do these tips months out. Also, this allows you to spread the cost out over time as you pay for attending the event, get a car at the airport, and even book your flight.

Belong to a travel group. I belong to Expedia Gold level which gets me discounts and sale prices, and I earn points to help me save even more money. Also, this gives you trip protection which can be helpful.

Also, make sure to line up long-term parking beforehand. The more you do before you go the easier it will be on the day of travel.

Always watch your hotel booking to make sure the room is refundable should you need to cancel, likewise it is also helpful to spend a few extra dollars to book a refundable flight; you never know what might come up.

TRAVELER 2 Michael Oddo Master stage hypnotist Driving, I have snacks I keep in the car so I am not stuck at gas stations for food. I have a cooler also for drinks so I do not have extra expenses. In my cooler, I keep raw carrots, Energy drinks, cheese, and deli meat. I also always have raw almonds for some reason, they help keep me alert at 4 a.m. All that said I still have the option of gas station snacks too. TRAVELER 3 Jim Kellener Author, Stage Hypnotist And Speaker As a performer, I have a couple of things that I recommend – whenever possible I schedule my flights on Southwest or another airline that lets you change your ticket without a fee because you never know when you’re going to get another last-minute booking and have to change your flight schedule. If it’s at all possible, I fly in the day before the show or speaking event, even if I have to pay for an extra night at a hotel room. So that I’m not stressed about flight delays which might cause me to be late for the

show or miss it completely. If a client is paying for a hotel, I will often recommend that they pay for the night before as well for that reason. Also, you’re likely to have a better show/performance if you’re not flying or traveling on the same day. You’ll be well rested. Get some cash, especially one and five-dollar bills. Many of us don’t carry cash regularly anymore but it’s nice to have a few bucks to be able to tip the shuttle driver or skycap. Many hotel locks are not very secure and could be broken or malfunctioned. Buy a portable lock and/or alarm for the hotel room. Something like this works well or another one would probably be fine. Once when my sons were younger we stayed in a hotel and in the morning I went down to talk to the front desk. When I came back, I turned the handle and walked right in because the door wasn’t locked. I admonished my sons for not locking the door as I had instructed them to do. They said that they had. I then checked and discovered that the hotel door did not lock at all. Someone could’ve just opened the door at any time when we were in the room or not. Bring snacks! For the flight and for later in the hotel, if you get hungry. TRAVELER 4 Grant Saunders Internation Stage Hypnotis and Podcaster Last but not least, my fellow traveling traveler says the best tip is great headphones, powerbank charger for your phone and enjoy the journey.
