New pedestrian crossing proposed at busv shopping park After receiving a number of safety concerns about the crossing between Asda and the shopping centre, Cllr. Brenda Seaton, requested that Leicestershire County Council consider a formal crossing. The single lane (bypass bound) widens in the last 30+ metres before the small roundabout encouraging traffic to separate depending on their direction of travel, left to the retail park, straight on, or right to Asda. Pedestrians travelling between the two areas are directed to cross at a 'designed in' crossing point but the traffic is not controlled and therefore under no obligation to stop for persons waiting to cross. Proposed erection of 5G mobile phone mast in Thurmaston A planning application (P/21/0368/2) has been submitted with Charnwood Borough Council for the erection of a 20m (66ft) mobile phone mast and nine associated service cabinets at Hadrian Road and Garden Street. It is proposed that the mast will be positioned on the path to the rear of the Working Men's Club with nine service cabinets. The Parish Council have objected strongly to this application which can be viewed online (see page 11 ). Concerns include the visual impact on the village green and the possibility of graffiti given the vicinity to the park, it is close to

Brenda Seaton said, "I am pleased to announce that after gathering traffic and footfall data plus traffic speeds and accident history in the last five years the proposal of a dual staggered toucan crossing is proposed." The Parish Council are all in agreement but have requested that the crossing is programmed to take account of traffic to prevent it backing up.
