Refund Policy:

Resident/Non-Resident Session I: Dec 12/Dec 19 Session II: Jan 27/Feb 3 Session III: March 10/March 17

Community Center/Field House will be closed on 1/20, 2/17, & 5/26

Youth Program Membership All youth Participants are require to register for a Youth Program membership before registering for any Program or camp provided through the Parks and Recreation Department.

To minimize refund fees, please see the timeframes listed below and the exception for medical reasons: 15 days or more before the start of the program: 100% refund 7 to 14 days before the start of the program: 75% refund Less than 7 days before the start of the program: No refunds or household credits will be granted.

A 100% refund will be issued for activities cancelled by the Parks and Recreation Department.

Transfers: We will no longer transfer a participant/camper from one program/camp to another. We will process a refund based on the guidelines above.

Medical reasons for cancellation: If you or your child has a medical emergency or becomes ill, please let us know as soon as you can if this will affect participation in the registered camp or activity. A doctor’s note will be required to process your refund. If a participant cannot transfer to a later camp/program, a refund will be applied.

Eligible for one year from date of purchase. Fee covers all recreation programs and activities for one year.

Dance Class Toddler & Me

Pre-Schoolers will explore the world around them and interact with peers through movement and play. This class is designed to enhance development using a variety of activities, including art, music, literature, and manipulatives. Children will develop cooperation skills and socialize in a group setting, as well as explore creative expression and critical thinking through a focus on socialemotional development. Join us for a fun session of exploring the Montessori language materials and curriculum for the 3-4 year old age groups. In this class your child will learn the phonetic sounds of the alphabet by using the sandpaper letters, begin to identify the beginning, middle, and end sounds of words, and prepare their hand for writing through various Practical Life activities that strengthen the pincer grip. Music and movement will also be used to support language development through rhyming games and letter sound association. The Aquatic Center offers American Red Cross “Learn to Swim” Programs. Each class is taught by a certified Water Safety Instructor. Registration: Residents may register two weeks before classes begin. Nonresidents may register one week before the first class. All classes must have a minimum of 4 registered participants.

(Infant & Parent Aquatics Program) Activity #: 354001 6 months to 3 years (one Child per parent) Younger children will adjust to the water by learning skills such as placing the face in the water, flutter kicks and prefloating skills. All Parents are taught how to instruct their children and recognize any errors in swimming technique. Children are required to wear swim diapers. Parents must be in the water with their children.

Instructors will work at the skill level of each child regardless of varied abilities.

Intermediate (Level 4 & 5) Activity #: 354003

BEGINNERS

Beginners (Levels 1-3) Activity #: 354002 This class is for students 6 years and older. It introduces children with little or no water experience to basic swimming skills. Students will learn rhythmic breathing and the basic strokes (front crawl, elementary backstroke, & back crawl). Instructors will teach to each students individual aptitude when possible.

This class is for students 6 years and older who have successfully completed our Beginners Program and have received a recommendation for advancement by their MSAC swim instructor. Students must be able to demonstrate rotary breathing, elementary backstroke, front crawl, and back crawl. This course is designed to improve upon students’ endurance and stroke technique in preparation for Swim Team. This course is considered strenuous and students will be required to swim multiple lengths of the pool.

PRESCHOOL AQUATICS

(Preschool Levels 1, 2 & 3) Activity #: 644007 This class is for ages 4 and 5 years who are ready to learn introductory water skills as well as beginner swimming skills. Students will learn to enter the pool properly, float, glide and the basics of front crawl.

Private Swim Lessons Miami Shores Aquatic Center offers Private Swim Lessons taught by our American Red Cross trained Water Safety Instructors.
