GREAT PEOPLE MAKE FAVORITE PLACES
BCC has created an actionable statement that helps define our philosophy known as The Simple Truth: Great People Make Favorite Places. Below is a small sample of staff members who are helping to make BCC your favorite place.
June Staff Member of the Month
Simple Truth Award
Will Jordan, Irrigation Technician
Since joining BCC last fall, Will has been an outstanding addition to the Grounds & Golf Maintenance Team, approaching each day with a positive, collaborative attitude and consistently demonstrating professionalism. Eager to learn and find solutions, he readily reaches out to industry contacts when needed and lives out our core value, “Do what’s right, not what’s easy,” by completing tasks quickly and efficiently while keeping budgeted goals in mind. Stepping into a role previously held for many years, Will has shown respect for the institutional knowledge of his predecessor while thoughtfully identifying opportunities for improvement, making him a dedicated, adaptable, and valued member of our team.
Patricia Goss, Member Relations Associate
A member recently contacted the Front Desk to ask about leftover plants from the Spring Gardening Workshop. After some back-and-forth between Patricia, the member, and Cathy Wagner, it became clear that the member had mistaken the spring annuals-to-go kits for the perennial pollinator garden kits, which were not offered this year due to the timing of the Big Ten Tournament and Easter events. Although we offered to assist, the member graciously declined and planned to get plants on their own. A few days later, while making birthday calls, Patricia realized it was the member’s birthday and decided to surprise them with perennial plants from BCC as a thoughtful gesture. Cathy provided four assorted perennials leftover from propagation, which she labeled and delivered to the front desk. Patricia paired them with a birthday card and personally delivered them to the member’s home. The gesture brought tears to the member’s eyes, and they were deeply touched by Patricia’s kindness.
GREENFOLDER STORIES
Read and experience the stories of the Simple Truth! This is a collaboration of stories submitted since the start of the Green Folder Stories Initiative. This book is live - meaning it’ll be updated throughout the year. So be sure to check back in from time to time to read what makes BCC so great!
Submit your Simple Truth experience by filling out the Green Folder Stories form, located at the bottom of the Park & Farms email, in Park & Farms, the staff webpage, or scan the QR codes in the staff breakrooms. BCC encourages all members to submit their own or fellow staff members’ Green Folder Stories.

COOKING 101: CHINESE NEW YEAR DUMPLINGS
Events Manager Caroline Pogust is teaching us the art of making a dumpling. Caroline is half Chinese; her family hails from Hong Kong and Shanghai. Growing up, her grandmother was one who first taught her the craft. She fondly remembers the big batches her grandmother would make, always reaching for a hot dumpling for a snack as opposed to a bag of chips. Now she makes them with her mom and sisiter, even her niece and nephew, when they are in the country.

From: Rosemary Nicolosi
My son (16 years old so eats for 3) had the crab balls (with honey) as appetizer. He (and I) loved them. When he saw them on the menu, he said, “Mama, they sound good but for $18?” I said, “go for it!” Well, as he was eating this unbelievably delicious appetizer, he said, “Mama, if I had known this small plate was going to be as good and as large as it is, I may not have ordered an entrée.“ Haha! When he got his Brie Grilled Sandwich (with sweet potato fries - superb), I guess he was OK with a lot more delicious food to eat! Touché chef! My experience, Mama’s, was equally as delightful. I grew up on the coast of New England. My favorite nostalgic treat is a lobster roll. I have traveled through out Baltimore trying to find a great option. However, generally lobster rolls cost about $35, and they are made with butter and that’s it. Buttered lobster on a roll is not good!! Lobster salad with celery and mayonnaise on a delicious roll as you served. it is the real thing. Thank you, thank you thank you I have not enjoyed a lobster roll as much in probably 30 years. And I can say, for $18, it is a massive value. Thank you for such good food. And lastly, I would like to recognize our server, Brooks, who was delightful and perfect in all ways. I’ve been a member of this club for maybe 30 years. I am more impressed with the food now than I have ever been. Thank you.
