Save 3% on your 2025 Health Insurance Premiums by completing the Health Risk Assessment

MCPASD requests that staff members who are on the group health insurance plan connect annually with a health care provider. As an incentive, we offer a 3% rate differential on health insurance premiums for the following plan year if the HRA process is completed.

What does this year ’ s process entail?

In an effort to better support the health and well-being of MCPASD employees, group health plan members can choose ONE of the following options:

Option 1

Complete a Wellness Visit with Jen Lange, APNP, at our MCPASD Employee Wellness Clinic and complete any recommended screenings

Option 2

Complete an annual physical with their Primary Care Provider (PCP), complete any recommended screenings and submit a Preventative Wellness Physician Verification Form completed by their Primary Care Provider (PCP)

New partner for substitutes | Edustaff starting 2024-2025

We are pleased to announce that we have entered into a contract with a new substitute provider, Edustaff, starting the 2024-2025 school year. Many factors were considered when moving from Teachers On Call (TOC) to Edustaff. Edustaff will provide substitutes for teachers, para educators, and administrative assistants.

It is important to note that this change does not affect how staff inputs substitute requests The process will still go through Frontline as usual

One highlight that we are most excited about is a dedicated District Service Representative (DSR) solely focused on our substitute needs. The DSR will be located on-site at DSC. This position has been posted through EduStaff. Click here to view the job description. Click here to view the application.

We are also committed to working with our current substitutes on a smooth transition to Edustaff and they will receive detailed information soon.

If you have any questions, please contact Dr. Barb Buffington, Director of Employee Services.

Literacy/Biliteracy Curriculum Renewal

We continue to meet for the Literacy/Biliteracy Curriculum Renewal team At this time, our committee has evaluated Benchmark Advance, HMH Into Reading/Into Literature, Amplify CKLA/ELA, Savvas MyView/MyPerspectives, and Arc CORE. We are also planning site visits and speaking with other Districts to help in our adoption process.

As part of our process, we have engaged in a Curriculum Open House where teachers were invited to review the curriculum and provide feedback in an exit ticket format. That information is being shared with our committee for further discussion and decision-making at our March 20th meeting.

After our Literacy/Biliteracy Committee makes our final selection for the curriculum, we will begin ordering materials and making professional development plans. Our plans for PD for our curriculum will not take place until all staff return in August. Our intent is to use our existing PD days. With the scale of staff that need training, it is not realistic to attempt summer training. Staff will receive initial curriculum training in August, with continued training across the PD days in September, October, and November (if needed)

In addition to PD days, we will also be utilizing existing PLC and staff meeting times for support.

Student Services

TouchingBaseWith TeachingandLearning

Our MCPASD Student Services Department is thrilled to announce that it has been awarded two grants this school year totaling $380,000. These grants will support various initiatives aimed at improving student well-being and academic success.

The largest grant, a federal grant, as part of the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act (BSCA) Stronger Connections program, of $350,000, will be used to bolster our efforts in Social-Emotional Learning (SEL). SEL plays a crucial role in helping students develop the skills they need to succeed in school and in life. This funding will enable us to expand our SEL programs and provide additional resources to support the social and emotional needs of our students.

Melanie Hill, the Social Emotional Learning & Mental Health Coordinator at MCPASD, led the effort by submitting a comprehensive grant application. This grant not only benefits MCPASD students, families, and staff but also extends its reach to include several private schools within the Middleton community, as they were part of the grant application.

Additionally, Student Services received a $30,000 grant for the Education for Homeless Children and Youth (EHCY) Program. This grant will allow us to enhance our support services for students experiencing homelessness, ensuring they have access to the resources they need to excel academically. Amy Poole, School Social Worker at MCPASD, secured the EHCY grant this past fall.
