MCPASD High School Football Program Update

We are excited to announce the appointment of Coach Joe Poehls and Coach Tim Simon as Interim co-head coaches

This decision was made after careful consideration of the needs of our student athletes, their families, our community, and our athletic department. The transition will be seamless as the two have been working together for some time now and have a deep understanding of the culture and expectations of our Football program

Coach Poehls has been with us since 2006 wherein he started as a teacher. Joe began coaching in 2009 and has been doing both roles since.

Coach Simon has been with us since 1991 and continues to serve as a teacher and coach Tim served as an assistant coach for 17 years and as our head varsity football coach for 15 years.

The leadership approach for the 2024-2025 Football season will be determined at a later date as we continue to evaluate all options.

Handbook Updates

The draft of the revised handbook can be found here in the Teacher Handbook Committee agenda. In the agenda is also a document of the summary of changes. Should employees, have feedback, please share that feedback with the Assistant Superintendent, Jerrud Rossing, or me.

The Support Staff handbook committee will convene on Thursday, April 27th to review the full draft of the employee handbook. I have also created a crosswalk to the current support staff handbook as well.

The Certified Staff handbook committee continues to meet. We are currently reviewing the full draft of the handbook. During the review process, the committee shares their feedback for revised sections by showing a number (fist to 5) If the committee gives feedback other than a 5, there is a discussion. We have already reviewed the first half of the handbook and will be moving to the second part at the next meetings on Monday, April 17th and Tuesday April 25th.

Teacher Roundtables

The Teacher Roundtable met on April 20th. I’d like to share that the participation at the past few meetings has been low (4-5 staff) due to conflicting meetings, events, and personal commitments During the meeting, we discussed the employee handbook updates, plans for the insurance and compensation committees in the fall, and plans for future meetings for 2023-24.
