STUDIO CLOSURE AND CLEANOUT
YOU’RE INVITED!
It’s time for our annual Studio Clean Out! We’ve had an eventful, productive year at the studio, and... it shows. So let’s roll our sleeves up and get the studio spick-and-span for another great year of wonderful creations!
Join us at the studio on Monday, January 6th, 2025 for a potluck and community exchange from 10am-1pm and the Clean Out from 1pm-5pm!

REMINDER:
The Live Oak Park ceramics studio will be closed for all pottery activities from Monday, December 23rd through Saturday, January 11th. The studio will re-open for Open Lab starting Sunday, January 12th.
With the end of the Fall session nearly upon us, and Winter 2025 sign-ups in progress, our biggest tool for the end of session locker cleanout is the Locker Sign-up sheet in the Materials Room. It is our ultimate guide for where we know our students and renters are located.
STUDIO CLOSURE AND CLEANOUT
Here is what to do:
Fall students or locker renters re-enrolled in Winter 2025 session: Go to the locker Sign-up sheet in the Materials Room & make sure your name is written next to the locker you are assigned to. This is important to keep your items safe & not removed to our storage room. If your name is in the right spot, you are good for the Winter - your items are safe!

Fall students or locker renters who are NOT returning for Winter 2025 session: Please clean out your locker no later than 6:00pm Sunday, December 22nd.
If you would like to reserve an Open Lab locker, please register your rental here: Winter 2025 Locker Rental Live Oak Ceramics Registration
OVERFLOW ON THE SHELVES
GLAZEWARE IN PROGRESS:
Given that there isn't much time for making new work these last 2 weeks, please try to get all your glazing done and those shelves emptied!

OOPS SHELVES:

Please take 5 minutes of your time when you are at the studio to look at what is on these shelves; it might surprise you to find some of your work!
Any old work (from October or before) will be discarded after February 1, 2025. Help us save your beautiful work!

GLAZE(S) OF THE WEEK
“I’ll have a blue Christmas without you, I’ll be so blue just thinking about you... ” - Elvis Presley
It’s officially the holiday season and we are seeing a common thread -- well, a common glaze color! All of these blues just make us want to sing Elvis’ “Blue Christmas”!
Our first glaze of the week is this oxidation piece from artist Robin W. that has a unique pattern that came about by using a light blue underglaze and Non-Iron Blue Celadon. On the right is another piece using Non-Iron Celadon over a dark blue underglaze by Mae. R.

GLAZE(S) OF THE WEEK
The next piece on the right is from artist Leah EW. She also used NonIron Blue Celadon, but glazed over the top half with Green Colemanite! Finally, we have this mug by an unknown artist on the left. The Pier’s Black drizzled over Thick White Shino created varying shades of matte black to glossy blue, how neat!
Now, onto reduction! Our first reduction piece from artist Coleen T. used the Rutile glaze on mixed clay. It created these beautiful ringlike patterns on her bowl! The pieces on the right are from an unknow artist that used Fridge White over Bailey's Red. Our new Ranch dressing... er... glaze will do the same effect!

On the left is a set of vessels by un w y r glaze, but we are not sure of the clay body. The piece on the right is by artist Cam K., which looks to be the OG on a red clay. We love the unique textures and shape used throughout these pieces!
