Do you want to learn about our current exhibition through the guidance of our amazing Gallery Attendants? The Manhattan Beach Art Center is proud to start hosting guided gallery tours of our current exhibition on Wednesday & Thursdays at 7pm, and Saturdays at 2pm. Tours will run until December 20 , 2025. th

Each tour will lead you through the gallery, providing context or background information about the artist, their work, or the installation of the piece. After the tour, there will be ample time for you to create your own pieces in the Education Space with the guidance of a Gallery Attendant.

HOLIDAY SUCCULENT WREATH WORKSHOPS

Decorate your home with a unique, handmade wreath, filled with dramatic succulents. Because of their resistance to drought, succulents are the perfect living plat for your holiday wreath. Students will assemble a wreath with succulents, grape vines and other decorative elements while learning how to care for and propagate succulents. All materials and plants are included. Ages 16+

LIVE ANATOMY DRAWING

Sharpen your observational skills and deepen your understanding of the human form in this immersive drawing class featuring a live model. Students will explore proportion, gesture, structure, and anatomy through guided exercises and longer poses. Working with charcoal, graphite, and other dry media, participants will learn classical techniques to capture the figure’s energy and accuracy while developing their own expressive style.

All skill levels are welcome from beginners seeking a foundation in figure drawing to experienced artists refining their anatomical understanding. Instruction will balance demonstration, individual feedback, and plenty of drawing time.

IKEBANA : JAPANESE FLORAL ARRANGMENT

In this two-part workshop, students will learn the basic principles, history, and significance of Ikebana and then enjoy creating their own Ikebana-inspired arrangements implementing these theories and techniques. In Part 1 of this workshop, you'll design and sculpt a ceramic floral frog (a reusable alternative to the traditional kenzan), which will serve as the foundation for your Ikebana arrangement in Part 2.

Expand your ceramic skills with our hands-on workshops designed for all levels. In Sprig Molds, you’ll create custom plaster molds using small objects or carved designs, then learn how to apply your sprigs to greenware for added texture and dimension. In Handbuilt Mug, you’ll craft simple plaster molds to shape a unique mug, exploring slab construction, mold care, and plaster mixing.
