The Structure

Volunteers Our support services base is in volunteering, whose joining process goes through the following steps: A - Guided tour at Horta Joanna de Ângelis getting to know the place, its surroundings andits structure. B – If the visitor shows interested as to becoming a volunteer, they shall fill in the Volunteer Form. C - Participation in training. D –A 90-day internship with a sponsor. E - After the internship period, the volunteer as part of the group, he/she will gethis/her button and there for e may wear the volunteer shirt, join the corresponding pillar and start his/her volunteer walking.

The Structure

Organizational structure Horta Joanna de Ângelis is structured on established SIX PILLARS, which act systemically as if they were business units. They are - Social, Educational, Patrimonial, Administrative, Environmental and Spiritual. In the event of any new demands new departments are created within each pillar. Social Pillar

Leader: Monalisa Gonçalves de Mello Responsible for all activities related to the identification and support of the people mostly in need, receiving, classification of donations and the mobilization of the community for events such as Solidarity Thrift Store (Brechó), Children’s and Christmas festivities. Among all the activities duly developed in 2019, shall be highlighted: > Supportive Community Lunch – Focused on serving the homeless in Novo Hamburgo City. Around 105 people are served every Sunday, ranging from 130 in winter to 80 in summer. In 2019, 5.350 packed meals were served, containingin an average of 850 grams of food, a sandwich and coffee.Six working teams taking turns willingly preparing and distributing the food. The activities always start at 6 am every Sunday.

Sunday morning, on their own initiative and will, they do take part in activities at Horta Comunitária. Amusing activities, group talk with psychologists and horticultural work are some of the activities carried out. In 2019, 468 supportive help were made.

> Luminous Footprints – Focused on homeless people served by Supportive Community Lunch, every

> Hair in the Wind – Monthly, through a partnership with hairdressers/volunteers, homeless people´s hair and beards are cut and clean shaved. At every session around 18 persons are helped. In 2019, the total number reached up to 180 persons.

> Supportive Care and Assistance to families in need – 38 families take part at various activities (see Educational Pillar) and get a package of food on monthly basis. In 2019, around 500 packages were delivered among them. The inclusion of families in the projects depends solely on an evaluation carried out by a specialized team, coordinated by the Social Worker, who does the required home visit. The food is provided by the Feeding Bank (main source) and from several other supporters.

> Receipt of donations – Throughout the year, substantial donationsis delivered at Horta Comunitária. All products are classified and either meant to the projects or sold at the Solidarity Thrift Store (Brechó).

Approximately 8,000 items such as clothing/garment, shoes, blankets, bed linen, bath and table products and toyswere duly distributed. > Solidary thrift store (Brechó) – 4 thrift stores were held along the year, selling products from R $ 0.50, having in mind serving the neediest population and raising funds for maintenance of ourvegetable garden.

> Unimed Walk – Every year, Unimed Vale do Sinos promotes a life value walk, requiring for that a subscription fee of one kilogram of non-perishable food destined for our vegetable garden. The event is already traditionally established in the month of October.

> A Walk for Life – Krause Group also promoted an event enhancing life value. The subscription fee required was a liter of milk which was meant to Horta Joanna de Ângelis.

Patrimonial Pillar is responsible for developing improvement projects as well as coordinating the entire infrastructure of Horta Joanna de Ângelis Comunitária and machinery, equipment and premises maintenance. It is the main support to all pillars when it comes to infrastructure requirements. Among the working procedures carried out in 2019, we shall emphasize: > Structural adequacy of the main building (red) – The meeting/conference room has been fullyrestructured with new furniture; a planned and appropriate room for the local Brechó; a new office layout welldefined; the upper floor appropriately restoredadding to the premise two extra roomsappropriatefor psychological support and one meeting/conference room.

> Restoration of the yellow building – The building was wholly renovated, having its roof completely replaced; the construction of a service area and bathrooms enlargement.

> Renovation of the roof of the red building – Its replacement was carried out as to ensuring better quality and safeguarding of the place.

> Construction of the Warehouse – The growing demands for products from Horta Joanna de Ângelishas made feasible the building of an area exclusively for the reception of visitors andselling of products. This space was built in a strategic location in a rustic building style with reuse of materials in construction.

> Security System Improvement – Upgrading of the camera system and hiring of a new property

> Implementation of Sales Control System – Being granted with the donation of a sales control system by our partner Server Software Para Varejo, this control system has been installed allowing prompt agility in service and physical/ financial control management of the warehouse.

> Building of a porch in Galpão do Reis – Construction of a porchas to carrying out activities with children on rainy days future wise.

> Rainwater Harvesting – With aof storage 25,000 liter water reservoir tank from the company Wall System Sistemas Modulares, from Novo Hamburgo, we built a system to gather water from the gymnasium to be used for irrigating the whole site of Horta Joanna de Ângelis.

> Assistance to Community Service Providers – In partnership with Fórum de Novo HamburgoForum and CREAS, Horta Joana de Ângelis welcomespeople who are lacking service provision to the community, offering them the opportunity to re-socializing and living with other volunteers.

> General Maintenance – Overall care and maintenance of the space through mowing and cleaning, including outsidearea, is carried out on a monthly basis.

Responsible for land-related activities, such as taking care of plants and trees, planting and harvesting vegetables, sorting and disposal of waste, volunteers training and receptionof groups. Among the working procedures carried out in 2019, we shall emphasize: > Preparation of the vegetables for the organic fair – Harvesting and preparation for the sale of vegetables and seedlings. It is an activity carried out every Saturday, from 7 am onwards, by teams accordingly determined and set through a setworking timetable.

> Reception of Groups – During the year, we were visited by many groups, mainly of children, who realizes that Horta Joanna de Ângelis is a space intended to awakening up the interest for environmentpreservation and the significance of caring for our planet Earth. During the visits, besides the presentation of the space, workshops are held such as zero trash, biological human clock and development of knowledge of plants and teas. Among the groups we received, we shall mention: Jovem Aprendiz SENAC, Escola Villa Becker, Sociedade EspíritaGabriel Delano andCentro Espírita Fraternidade.

> Volunteer Training – During the year, having in mind the upgrading of our volunteers, several training sessions were held, such as zero trash workshop, biological human clock workshop and participation in the project Horta Joanna de Ângelis with UJR children (plant composting, harvesting and food preparation).

> Participation in Outdoor Activities – As part of the Environment Day celebrations, we organized a solidarity toll resulting in the sale of seedlings and the promotional divulgation of Horta´s projects.

> Seeds of Joana – Project with 15 children being held on Saturday afternoons with the aim of preparing them for an eco- friendly world. The activities are ludic and alsogather information about plants, waste/trash selection, planting and vegetables harvesting. Allmaking of this project is shared among the children involved on such initiative.


In charge of all legal activities of the organization, such as Accounting, Financial, Safety, Human Resources, Fundraising, and working routines on the premises as well as institutional image of Horta Joanna de Ângelis . Among the activities developed, we shall mention: > Visitors Reception – We welcome many visitors, mainly on Saturdays. Our reception area is always enthusiastic and greeted by an organized and kind team. The visit includes a walk throughout the location surroundingsand presentation of our projects and products and, above all, the invitation to take part of the volunteer staff. > Organic Fair / Warehouse – Around 70 customers ‘services per Saturday. All activities are carried out by

volunteers grouped in teams gathered beforehand. The sales are essential to cover part of Horta’s expenses.

> Simply Together (Simplesmente Juntos) – Project developed by the company Tintas Killingin order to support charity entities , including Horta Joanna de Ângelis among them which had an outstanding contribution in all stages (marketing, divulgation, planning and distribution).

> Lunches for Volunteers and Service Providers – Every Saturday, organized in 3 teams, which take turns cooking and serving around 35 lunches for those who have been working along the day.

> Workshop of candies/sweets, jellies, sauces and byproducts – Currently, around 50 kg per month are produced by a team of 3 people. The product is intended for sale, domestic consumption and homeless people via Community Sunday Lunch (Rango Solidário).

> Mão na Massa Project – Held every weekend by volunteers (three teams), who produced around 4,600 breads in 2019. The product is intended for consumption of those being assisted and is also sold at the fair held on Saturdays.

> Musical Dinner with the Choir – An Italian dinner which was held in partnership with the choir of Horta

> Volunteer Training – In order to promote Horta’s activities and provide all volunteers with the same unit of values, we started training all volunteers, mainlythe new ones, who, since the beginning can already start their activities with knowledge of the doings and therefore integrated to the cause.

Spiritual Pillar

Leader: Julio Alexandre Dorneles It works in the context of the institution as an integrating, cooperative and systemic agent, seeking to consolidate and strengthen relationships in an ethical-moral behaviorbased on the experience of the Teachings of Jesus Christ. Among the activities, we shall mention: > Weekly Gospel – Implemented at the end of 2016, the Gospel is the main pillar, due to ourconstant prayers, balance and harmony in Horta’s activities. > Sheltering/Caring – Many situations were stopped and / or early dealt thanks to the reception activity, which has been operating informally since the beginning of 2017 by the pillar employees, who, focused to any incidence (behavioral, ethical-moral, vibratory and material / social) ), have been acting as filters, pointing out it to those in charge or acting directly. > Lectures – We provide lectures for the Group of Women about Spiritism (Spiritualistic Philosophy), as per request of the members themselves, resulting in other topics, such as suicide, abortion, family life, drugs and children´s upbringing, permeating the dialogue right after the lecture. > Divaldo Franco Lecture – It took place in August and brought up the topic ‘The Void and the Existential Sense’. The event gathered more than 1,700 people at Teatro Feevale, in Novo Hamburgo.

In charge of all activities related to education, sport, leisure and projects meant to createnew resources to be applied in operational areas. Among the procedures carried out, we shall mention: > Women’s Group – Fourmeetings monthly in an average of 12 participants in a total of 36 gatherings. The subjects dealt were: domestic violence, self-esteem, alcoholism, drugs, psychiatric hospitalization, medication, depression, bipolarity and suicide. Some issues of a higher concern were referred to psychiatric hospitalization, CAPS and ophthalmologist support. Also docu-

> Domestic Economy Group – 26 meetings were held, with an average of 12 participants, aimed at families assisted by Horta Comunitária. Activities such as the production ofsoaps, detergent , general cleaning material, handmade fabric articles (fabric “Yo Yo” crafts (fuxico), Christmas garlands and others), crochet and knitting.

Educational Pillar

> Youngsters at Horta – In partnership with UJR, we assist 70 children in extracurricular activities. On Mondays and Wednesdays, 1h30min of social soccer and 1h30min of activities at Horta Comunitária, being served a snack during the break. The complementary activities regarding sport took place only in the first semester of 2019 but they were canceled due to the lack of volunteers to accomplish the tasks.

> Psychological and Psycho-pedagogical Assistance – Proposes individual psychological, psycho pedagogical and neuropsychopedagogical clinical assistance and the evaluations covering the three areas in children and teenagerspresenting issues regarding relationship, learning and other difficulties, and duly informed by the municipal schools in partnership. In all, 2,040 requests were made in 2019. We still count on an essential support: Editora SINOPSYS, through its director Ricardo Gusmão, who donated a complete collection of children’s books from the publisher for psychological assistance.
