23 La leyenda del Titanic hecha realidad gracias a las reproducciones y objetos de la muestra, como la vajilla original del restaurante o uno de los bancos de la cubierta.

Sus materiales, habitaciones, terrazas, o incluso su mítico restaurante Le Parisien, todo estaba pensado para satisfacer a las clases altas que se embarcaron en la aventura.

Y justamente, el atractivo de la exposición es la oportunidad que tiene el visitante de adentrarse en el universo allí creado, conociendo incluso las pequeñas historias de hombres y mujeres que se convirtieron en héroes tras la tragedia. El primer paso es situar físicamente a los visitantes, por eso se han reproducido el portalón de entrada de pasajeros al Titanic, la majestuosa escalinata de proa del buque (sí, por ella bajaba un engalanado Leonardo DiCaprio para encontrarse con la espectacular Kate Winslet), el pasillo de primera clase que daba acceso a las suites o los camarotes, uno de primera clase y otro de tercera.

Otra de las aportaciones clave de la muestra: los objetos originales rescatados. Por ejemplo, se puede observar la lista de pasajeros del Titanic, un trozo de carbón de la sala de calderas, un banco de la cubierta o el smoking y objetos personales de uno de los pasajeros españoles, llamado Víctor Peñasco. Pero sin duda, los documentos de mayor transcendencia histórica son las cartas escritas por el Primer Oficial William Murdoch. For example, visitors can see the original passenger list of the Titanic, a piece of coal from the boiler room, a bench from the deck and the tuxedo and personal effects of one of its Spanish passengers, named Víctor Peñasco.

However, without a doubt one of the most historically important documents is the letters written by First Officer William Murdoch. In these letters, the officer, who was at the helm of the ship when it ran into the iceberg, recounts the incidents on the journey.

Tradicionalmente, la mujer ha ornamentado su cuerpo con piezas de joyería de todo tipo de metales y piedras preciosas. Debido a su valor, que crece proporcionalmente a la dificultad de extracción y trabajo de los materiales, se convierten en piezas de deseo.

Explotando la presencia de la mujer, el mundo de la relojería se fue acercando ella para ampliar la cuota de mercado. Aparecen de este modo los relojes-joya.

Grandes marcas como Bulgari o Patek Philippe, que en 1868 presentó el primer reloj de pulsera realizado en Suiza, un guardatiempos especialmente fabricado para la condesa Koscowicz de Hungría, siguieron esta tendencia.

Women have traditionally ornamented their bodies with all kinds of jewellery made of precious metals and stones. Due to their value, which rises proportionally to the difficulty of extracting and working the materials, they become objects of desire. Exploiting the presence of women, the world of watchmaking gradually courted women in an effort to expand their market share, and thus jewellerywatches emerged. Great brands like Bulgari and Patek Philippe, which in 1868 unveiled the first wristwatch made in Switzerland, a timekeeper especially crafted for Countess Koscowicz of Hungary, followed this trend.

We should mention that the machinery was developed by the French company Lip, but the company that began to commercialise it was Seiko back in 1969. Quartz wristwatches replaced the usual diapason with a resonator that managed to double the power of the former, lowering costs by half and boosting the durability and reliability of the machinery.

Later, the evolution in women’s watches entailed an increase in the diameter of the case and the addition of automatic movement as one of its main features.

That is, a new trend got underway, which ran parallel to the explosion and spread of the dynamic, independent woman who studies, works and shows all her aptitudes day after day.

This is yet a further degree of sophistication: knowledge of the technical aspects, and an interest in them, which is no longer an exclusively male sphere.

Consequently, the most logical next step was the introduction of the major complications and finest materials into women’s watches. Audemars Piguet, Cartier and Patek Philippe are some of the maisons which paved the way in this new trend, adding the chronograph function, two time zones, power reserve, phases of the Moon and of course the different versions of gold and inlays with the most precious stones on the market.

Enamoradizos y transigentes, pero explícitamente desprendidos y gruñones. En general, así se ha presentado en el cine a ese alter ego de la famosa “femme fatale”, abanderada de la lucha por la igualdad de sexos.

A harsh childhood, a family that has fallen apart, a lost sensibility.

Cool, bold, sufficient yet always broken. Romantic and accommodating, yet explicitly detached and grumpy. Generally speaking, this is how the alter ego to the femme fatale, the champion in the struggle for sexual equality, has been presented.
