MISSION STATEMENT
Marmion Academy, a Catholic and Benedictine college preparatory school for young men, is a community dedicated to spiritual formation, academic excellence and leadership development.
ABOUT THE ACADEMY
Founded in 1933, Marmion is conducted by the Benedictine Priests and Brothers of Marmion Abbey and is situated on a scenic 325-acre campus in Aurora, Illinois. To accomplish its mission, Marmion strives to build a community of skilled and dedicated educators and talented and receptive students. Parents, teachers, support staff, alumni and students work together to foster respect for each person and to develop God-given talents. Marmion admits students of any race, color, creed, national origin or ancestry. It does not discriminate against any student in its educational policies, scholarships or programs. Marmion reflects the Gospel values and the American Constitution in its conviction that all people are created equal and should be treated as equals.
OUR STUDENTS
The enrollment at Marmion Academy for the 2024-2025 School Year is 411 students in grades 9-12. This diverse student body consists of 20% Hispanic (including Multiracial Hispanic), 2.9% Asian, .01% Black/ African American, and 4.1% Multiracial (Non-Hispanic) young men. 75% of the students are Roman Catholic. Approximately 90% of the 2024 Marmion graduates attended a four-year college or university, with 8% attending a community college/trade school.
Since 1958, 143 Marmion students have been named National Merit Scholarship Finalists, with hundreds more being named as Semifinalists and Commended Students.

GPA, GRADING, AND RANKING
The GPA includes all semester grades from credit-bearing courses taken at Marmion which appear on the transcript. Marmion Academy weights Honors and Advanced Placement courses in the GPA calculation by adding one quality point to the grade points earned in those courses. Grades posted to the transcripts and report cards are the actual grades earned and do not reflect any “weighting”.

• Department recommendation based on student ability, performance, and potential.
• Students wishing to enroll in Honors level courses are expected to maintain grades of B- or above in their current honors course, or an A- or above in their current non-honors course.
• Students wishing to enroll in Honors/AP level courses must have a Cumulative GPA of 4.00 or above.

Theology is a full-time accredited academic course of study required of all students for all four years. Theology 3 is a full year course in Church History and may be considered a Social Studies credit. The 1st Semester of Theology 4 is a survey course in World Religions.
Leadership courses, either JROTC or LEAD (Leadership Development and Education), are required of all students all four years. Credits in these courses may be considered as Social Studies credits. Leadership courses meet 2 days per week
All students take a full year of PE/Health during freshman year, earning 0.5 credits in PE and 0.25 credits in Health. All students take an additional 0.5 credits in PE during either junior or senior year. PE classes meet 2-3 days per week and Health class meets 1 day per week.
