finished and were watching developments from the comfort of the 19th hole!

Unfortunately for The Tanglln Club, our final pair of Francis Foo and Hugh Hoyes-Cock could not hold on for the point that we needed to draw the match and the overall team result was a victory

for The American Club by 6 points to 4. Both clubs have jointly donated a handsome trophy to be awarded to the winning team and its first recipient was David Burks, the Golf Convenor of the victorious American Club, in whose trophy cabinet the trophy will reside until we manage to win it back - hopefully in the next fixture!

in the contest for longest and nearest, Richard Doggart hit the furthest to win the prize for the longest drive of the day and Edmund Wan was the most accurate to bag the prize for the nearest to t' pin. Each club hosts the match alternately and this time it was the turn of The American Club. Our thanks are extended to The American

Club for being such generous hosts. We look forward to returning the compliment next time! David Haslam Golf Convenor

In what is becoming an increasingly popular fixture, our golfers ventured east to Tanah Merah Country Club to renew The Tanglln Club's annual rivalry with The American Club on the beautiful Tamplnes Course.

The "Ryder Cup"format was chosen for this year's match in keeping with the other well known golf matches between Europe and the USA, and ten pairs from each club contested the event.

We were rewarded with a very close match with the result being decided on the last green by the final group, being cheered on in equal measure by team mates from both teams who had already

Billiards This year has seen changes in the dress code in the Billiards Room, new ball cleaners, rule changes, our own hole in the

In addition, we of course would not have such a great time if it was not for the markers, a big thanks to you. In closing, I encourage all the section fund members to look carefully at the Master Plan project. It is a vital move for the

2003 Club Championships

Message From The Squash Convenor 2003 has been another active year for the Section although for one reason or another we have not managed to slot in an overseas tour or indeed make the annual doubles

Bridge Hello again and welcome to a new year of fun bridge.

December is always a great month for us all here at The Tanglin Club Bridge Section. We held our Annual Christmas Luncheon

and this year it was attended by 70 people. Even the Raffles Room was pressed to fit

us all in. F&B are to be congratulated, once again, on a wonderful meal and excellent

service. After the lunch our players enjoyed a lighthearted game and many gifts were awarded for "Trick with a two","Grand Slam" and "Mini Slam". Having to wear the "Santa Hat" upon winning a gift created much laughter and merriment. We also announced and rewarded the session winners for 2003.

They were as follows: Monday afternoon Wednesday afternoon Wednesday evening Friday evening

but we felt something should be provided for all those players who could not attend the luncheon due to daytime commitments. Again it was well attended and a fun time was had by all.

As always, I leave you with a little humour.

Overheard at the Bridge Club,"We had a 75-percent game last night! Three out of four opponents thought we were idiots." May ALL your finesses work.

Once again we thank our Committee for all their hard work in organising the Bridge for

us during 2003. We express our regret at the resignation of Mr Murii who held the position of Convenor. His efforts in

increasing the attendance for the Wednesday evening game, the Introduction of a 'floating player' for that session and

his other innovations are appreciated by all. Thank you for your time and efforts Mr Murli.
