Starling Air is based at Ærø Airstrip (EKAE), which was originally established in 1960, making it one of the oldest airstrips in Denmark. The international airstrip links Ærø to the whole of Europe and welcomes a large number of guest aircraft in the summer months. The airstrip has two grass runways (789 metres) and is located at Gråsten Nor, midway between Ærøskøbing and Marstal. For additional

VISIT BIRKHOLM, ÆRØ’S “LITTLE BROTHER” Birkholm is one of the smallest inhab ited Danish islands, and it is part of the Muni cipality of Ærø. There are actually more houses than residents on Birkholm. Several of the houses, which are holiday homes today, are owned by people who live in other parts of Denmark and spend a good deal of time looking after them. A small, loyal group of residents who were born and raised on the island are devoted to keeping the old traditions alive and take pride in ensuring that everything is intact in summer and winter alike. There are no
eateries on Birkholm, but there is a small self-service shop and a marina, as well as countryside that is perfect for hiking, and a number of great fishing spots. GO SAILING From Ærø Boat Charter, you can rent a boat – with or without a captain – and go island hopping in the South Funen Archipelago.
