HELLO AND WELCOME TO OUR FIRST BROCHURE OF 2024!

We feel extremely proud to have already had a very successful start to the year. The Lowestoft Players kicked us off with their annual pantomime and since then we’ve been going from strength to strength with our customers particularly enjoying our Evening With events, as well as our popular Marina Comedy Club

This brochure covers May right through to the end of the year and we’re hoping you will find something for all of your family in these pages. We’re particularly looking forward to welcoming Tony Blackburn and Jools Holland to the theatre in July, as well as John Barrowman in October.

As always, we like to add new shows to our programme with Most Haunted Live and a new astrology show, The Signs in Love, making their first visit to us. We also have a Taylor Swift tribute in July and a Harry Styles one in September to appeal to the young music lovers in your life.

All your favourites are here too with That’ll Be The Day, Frankie’s Guys and Crown Ballet all making welcomed returns!

After the success of A Christmas Carol last year, we’re looking forward to our Marina Company’s next show, Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde in July. And let’s not forget that we will once again be teaming up with Paul Holman Associates to bring you this year’s festive pantomime treat, Beauty & The Beast

The Marina Café is a friendly and relaxed place to meet friends and take the weight off. Whether you need a cuppa and a catch-up, or a bite to eat before a show, our calm and bright café is a lovely place to unwind.

We serve a range of food and drinks perfect for brunch, lunch or a pre-show supper. Our unique blend coffee makes for a warming beverage with just enough kick to pique your appetite and stimulate the senses.

Look out for our Marina Made dishes to sample handmade scones, soups, bread and cakes that reflect changing moods and seasonal favorites. For a bite to eat before shows, we’ve introduced a new evening menu of hot and hearty meals.

For busy evening shows, our upstairs Circle Bar is an elegant and informal setting to enjoy a glass or two. If you think you’ll need a top up later on, you can beat the queues and preorder interval drinks.

CINEMA & SCREENINGS

Get immersed in different places and worlds, experience it all through the big screen. Our cinema screen has just been replaced after many years which has added to the quality of the screened product we show!

ACCESS

We believe that theatre is for everyone and where possible we will always make adjustments to meet your needs.

WHEELCHAIRS

We have wheelchair accessible toilets servicing the Box Office, Café, Kiosk, Foyer and Auditorium and five wheelchair spaces available in the auditorium stalls. For those using sticks or with other mobility issues we will always do what we can to find you the best seats. Call the Box Office on 01502 533200 and we can guide you through your options. We always advise booking early to get the best seats for you.

HEARING ASSISTANCE

We have a state-of-the-art Sennheiser infrared hearing system. The system allows sound from the stage to be played back to you through headphones or hearing aids via an easy-to-use bodypack. These are particularly useful for films, screenings, plays and comedy, though are not always suitable for loud live music such as rock bands or musicals. Any headphones with a 3.5mm jack plug can be used with the bodypack. You are welcome to bring your own set, or you can purchase them from the kiosk.

SUBTITLED SCREENINGS

We have made upgrades to our cinema system to allow us to show subtitled films subject to availability. These show the dialogue and other heard elements of a film at the bottom of the screen and are really useful for people who are deaf, hard of hearing or speak English as a second language.

ACCESSIBLE PERFORMANCES

Whenever possible we aim to schedule in signed and/or relaxed performances into our programme. Our relaxed performances for panto have become a really popular event and last year’s panto cast commented that the audiences for our relaxed performances were some of their favourites throughout the run. For Beauty and the Beast we’re thrilled to be able to offer a signed performance, a relaxed performance, and a signed and relaxed performance as part of our panto season this December.

At the Marina we strive to put ourselves at the heart of Lowestoft’s Community. We have created groups for participants of all ages to help them enjoy the arts, make friends and gain confidence. There is no customer parking on site, however there are car parks within walking distance - parking is free after 6pm. Parking can be found on Whapload Road and near Lowestoft Library. For long-stay parking before 6pm we recommend using Whapload Road Park. There is limited roadside disabled parking near the front of the theatre.
