What’s On November 2022 - April 2023 info@marinatheatre.co.uk | marinatheatre.co.uk | 01502 533200 Marina Theatre, Lowestoft, NR32 1HH photo: Come What May
The last few years have continued to prove to me just how important live performances are, they provide us with joy, lift us up, inspire us, and even make us see the world a little differently.
Live performances bring people together, unite loved ones and create memories that will last a lifetime. If you’re attending on your own, it is the conversations in the queue or interval chatter that create new bonds and build a community. When your friend has to cancel, it is the spare ticket offered up to a neighbour that brings harmony to our streets, and the special show booked months in advance brings anticipation just as a spur of the moment evening out adds spice to our lives.
Over the next few months we’ve got an exciting and varied live programme to deliver all this and more. Theatre fans are in for some real treats next spring as Mike Leigh’s breakout suburban comedy Abigail’s Party comes to Lowestoft; as does the premier of a brand new adaptation of John Godber’s hilarious High School play Teechers. And if you’re in the mood for gothic murder mystery Blackeyed Theatre are back at the Marina with Sherlock Holmes’ detective drama Valley of Fear Tap Factory, Bring the Heat and Greatest
Magician make new appearances in our line-up of energetic nights of dance & entertainment. And for something new, you might consider Psychology of Serial Killers where we explore the darker side of human nature.
Of course, Christmas in Lowestoft just wouldn’t be the same without a Marina Theatre/ Paul Holman Associates Pantomime! Sam Callaghan, Terry Gleed and John Lyons lead this year’s cast of Jack & The Beanstalk for a GIANT of a pantomime experience. Expect plenty of laughs, amazing song and dance numbers, special effects, and Daisy the Cow like you’ve never seen her before!
We may be heading into what for many –including us – looks like a hard winter, but we’ll be here ready to entertain you whenever you need us.

Music Dance
At the Marina we strive to put ourselves at the heart of Lowestoft’s Community. Alongside a wide-ranging programme of live shows, cinema and screenings, we have created groups for participants of all ages, experiences, and skill levels to help them enjoy the arts, learn new skills, make friends, and gain confidence.
We have lots of other activities and projects to offer throughout the year – make sure you keep an eye on our social media pages or our website to keep up to date with what’s on offer, or get in touch to register your interest or sign up to a class. community@marinatheatre. co.uk
We don’t want payment to be a barrier to participation, so we are able to offer some assisted places. Please get in touch to discuss further if you think this would be helpful.

ACCESS
We believe that theatre is for everyone and where possible we will always make adjustments to meet your needs.
WHEELCHAIRS
We have wheelchair accessible toilets servicing the Box Office, Café, Kiosk, Foyer and Auditorium and five wheelchair spaces available in the auditorium stalls. For those using sticks or with other mobility issues we will always do what we can to find you the best seats. Call the Box Office on 01502 533200 and we can guide you through your options. We always advise booking early to get the best seats for you.
HEARING ASSISTANCE
We have a state-of-the-art Sennheiser infrared hearing system. The system allows sound from the stage to be played back to you through headphones or hearing aids via an easy-to-use bodypack. These are particularly useful for films, screenings, plays and comedy, though not always suitable for loud live music such as rock bands or musicals. Any headphones with a 3.5mm jack plug can be used with the bodypack. You are welcome to bring you own set, or you can purchase them from the kiosk.
SUBTITLED SCREENINGS
We have made upgrades to our cinema system to allow us to show subtitled films, subject to availability. These show the dialogue and other heard elements of a film at the bottom of the screen and are really useful for people who are deaf or hard of hearing.
ACCESSIBLE PERFORMANCES
Whenever possible we aim to schedule in signed and/or relaxed performances into our programme. Our relaxed performances for panto have become a really popular event and last year’s panto cast commented that the audiences for our relaxed performances were some of their favourites throughout the run. For Jack & The Beanstalk we’re thrilled to be able to offer a signed performance, a relaxed performance, and a signed and relaxed performance as part of our panto season this December.
If you have any concerns or would like to discuss any access requirements you have before you arrive please email info@marinatheatre.co.uk, phone 01502 533200, send a letter to the address on the back, or pop in during our opening hours to have a chat.
Check back on our website for more updates about accessible performances.
