WELCOME

Thank you for taking a look at our first full length brochure in over two years. Whilst we can’t pretend that the world is quite back to normal yet, it is a delight to present you with a new season of live shows.

In the next few months we’re welcoming back some much-loved popular shows like Frankie’s Guys, That’ll Be The Day, Showaddywaddy and Sensational 60s which we know you’ll love, plus there’s a taste of something new!

Exciting Science provides explosive fun for the family while the Pasadena Roof Orchestra brings back the heyday of swing music. We can also promise scintillating live dramas with The Steptoe and Son Radio Show, Crimes on Centre Court, Lilies on The Land, and many more making great additions to our programme.

Thanks to support from Orchestras Live, classical music is making a triumphant return to Lowestoft with London Mozart Players

The Marina Café is a friendly and relaxed place to meet friends and take the weight off.

Whether you need a cuppa and a catch-up, or you’re after a bite to eat before a show, our calm and bright café is a lovely place to unwind.

We serve a range of food and drinks perfect for brunch, lunch, or a pre-show supper. As well as our unique blend coffee and delicious cakes, we serve handmade scones and homemade soups all prepared by our café staff.

For busy evening shows our upstairs Circle Bar is an elegant and informal setting to enjoy a glass or two. Last year we renovated the Circle Bar to make it lighter, more comfortable, and a more multifunctional space where we can hold classes and community events as well as smaller live performances. Come and have a look!

MARY ROSE BY J.M. BARRIE An old manor house is haunted by the ghost of a young woman who once lived there. 37 years earlier a young girl, Mary Rose, went missing on an island in the Outer Hebrides.

STEPTOE AND SON RADIO SHOW Albert and Harold; father and son, rag-and-bone. The father proclaims he’s “a poor old man” while the son protests that his dad is “a dirty old man!” In actual fact, both are telling the truth.

These two, warring rag-and-bonemen, in their Shepherd’s Bush scrapyard home, became household favourites for entire generations throughout the 60s and 70s and still they continue to entertain audiences today.

ACCESS

We believe that theatre is for everyone and wherever possible we will always make adjustments to meet your needs. We have wheelchair-accessible toilets servicing the Box Office, Café, Kiosk, Foyer and Auditorium and five wheelchair spaces available in the auditorium stalls.

HEARING ASSISTANCE We have a state-of-the-art Sennheiser infrared hearing system.

The system allows sound from the stage to be played back to you through headphones or hearing aids via an easy to use bodypack available from the foyer. Any headphones with a 3.5mm jack plug can be used with the bodypack. You are welcome to bring your own set, or you can purchase them from the kiosk.

ACCESSIBLE PERFORMANCES Whenever possible we try to schedule in signed and/or relaxed performances into our programme. Our relaxed performances for panto have become a really popular event and last years Panto cast commented that the audiences for our relaxed performances were some of their favourites throughout the run.

For Jack and the Beanstalk we’re thrilled to be able to offer a signed performance, a relaxed performance, and a signed-and-relaxed performance as part of our panto season this December.

Before Covid-19 we presented over 500 live, screening & cinema events per year. While we are still recovering from the effects of the last two years, our running costs are growing, and our income has decreased. However, this is exactly the time when we need to invest in change and continue to grow the breadth of community projects that we offer to serve the people of Lowestoft.

GETTING HERE There is no customer parking on site, however the nearest car park is Battery Green Car Park just 2 minutes away – parking is free after 6pm. Parking can also be found on Whapload Road and near Lowestoft Library. For long-stay parking before 6pm we recommend using Whapload Road Car Park. There is limited roadside disabled parking near the front of the Theatre.

For public transport, we are roughly 8 minutes walk away from Lowestoft Train Station which is a terminus for trains from Ipswich and Norwich.
