LINES AND CIRCLES WEEK 1 CLASSWORK

CLASSWORK

Reflection: This assignment was a challenge, since drawing straight lines are the basics yet difficult. But it was a fun assignment.

Grading

Feedback:

Need a lot of work and practice on straight lines. As for the circles, they need a more unified shape. Grade:

8/10 6

I have never been able to draw straight lines. But with the help of this exercise, my lines are definitely more staight than before.

This assignment gives off a very simple impression and that’s why I underestimated it. It was very difficult for me to perfect the circle. So, it took me severeal tries to get a nice round sketch of the circle.

WEEK 2 TARGET SCALE AND PROPORTIONS LINES AND COMPOSITIONS CLASSWORK COMPOSITION PRACTICE ASSIGNMENT 9
10

Reflection:

Im hoping by the end of this course

I will be able to reach this level of work using free hand skills.

TARGET

11

CLASSWORK

Reflection:

Sketching real life objects for the first time was an excitig activity.

The sketch had to be neat and well scaled per the criteria.

Grading Feedback:

The sketch was not very neat. Proportions were not exact and needed improvement.

Grade:

7/10

Reflection: Grading feedback: Grade:

The figures are not neat. Need More practice on line assignments.

8/10

I faced an issue with drawing Straight lines contiously. Using ink, I had to practice perfecting straight lines. 13

ASSIGNMENT

14

Reflection:

Shading compositions was now easier.

By time and practice I had improved my techniques.

You can see how I was able to show the different shades and add highlights for a more realistic appearance.

Grading Feedback:

Eye-level work can be better. Sketch needs more neatness. Grade:

8.5/10 15

WEEK 3 PERSPECTIVE CLASSWORK INK AND SHADING FIRST PERSPECTIVE DRAWING PERSPECTIVE AND SHADING COMPOSITIONS ASSIGNMENT 17

CLASSWORK

It was really difficult to understand perspective at first, but those exercises helped a lot. Turning every

18

Reflection:

I had a clear understanding of perspective from several views. The coloring helped me detect how each side came from different points of perspective.

Grading Feedback:

Generally, good understanding of perspective.

Grade: 8.5/10

ASSIGNMENTS

Reflection: The use of hatching techniques was interesting.

Ink was very helpful with defining straight lines.

Grading Feedback: Need some work on hatching and eye-level work. Grade:

8.5/10 20

Reflection:

Was very excited to start perspective. Lines were straight and displayed well. Was not on the know that we need to shade it .

Grading Feedback:

Lines were straight but stairs didn’t approach the perspective point to the right angle.

21

ASSIGNMENTS

Reflection:

I used very dark colors on the figure which didn’t give it a shape.

22

Reflection:

I struggled with understanding this assignment as I could not acquire three cubes. Shading is good but no reflections.

Grading Feedback:

Shading needs more contrast and mirroring. Compostion is not on eye- level. Grade: 8.5/10

WEEK 4 EXPIREMENTING WITH WATERCOLORS CLASSWORK WATERCOLOR AND INK WATERCOLOR PERSPECTIVE ASSIGNMENT 25

I always wondered what meduim did architects use for sketching buildings and it makes perfect sense to be watercolors. They dry fast and if theres a mistake made you can easily fix it. It was very difficult to maintain them at first, but they are easy to get the hang of.

26

Reflection:

For the first time using watercolors, it was very Fun. Since we only focused on the understanding of different ways of usage, it was not the goal for the paper to look neat or pretty. However, it should look messy and clumsy since we are just expirementing.

Grade: 8.5/10 27

ASSIGNMENTS

Reflection:

Improvement on watercoloring techniques. Easy to draw

vanishing point but still difficult to find it exactly.

Grading Feedback:

The paper was ripped from the ends. Wrong format.

Grade: 9/10

Format. Grade: 9 and 8.5/10 29
Reflection: Using watercolor was amazing. Ink techniques improved drastically and straight lines are easier now. Grading Feedback: Paper is supposed to be 300 grams. Wrong

WEEK 5 PERSPECTIVE CLASSWORK PERSPECTIVE SPOTS LAKEHOUSE VIDEO ASSIGNMENTS 31

Perspective was the hardest thing to understand in this course. In the beginning, my main issue was identifying the horizen line and vanishing point. Later on, I couldn’t identify what pointed to the vanishing point and what didn’t.

32

Reflection:

I was very proud of my progress at this point. Never thought I would reach this level of understanding to perspectives.

Grading feedback: Perspective is great and focus on details aswell. Grade:

9/10 33

ASSIGNMENTS

Reflection: Sketching perspectives on spot was a very fun assignment. I used different shades of green for the trees.

Grading Feedback: Watercolor details can be better. Grade: 9.5/10

34

Reflection:

Using ink, I had to outline the penthouse. Then add watercolor for contrast and effect.

Grading

Feedback: Blending could be smoother. No sharp lines. Grade: 8.5/10

36
WEEK 6 COLORING PERSPECTIVES CLASSWORK SHADING AND WATERCOLOR TREES AND WATERCOLORS TECHNIQUES OF WATERCOLOR ASSIGNMENTS 37

I was very proud of this drawing, even though my watercoloring techniques downgraded a bit. I had completely understood perspective and it was very easy to get the horizen line and the vanishing point.

38
CLASSWORK

Reflection:

The perspective sketch was great, however, the watercolor usage was not as precise as I would have liked.

Grading Feedback:

Watercolor needs more work and percision.

Grade: 8/10

39

I always struggled with skies. However, the videos included in this assignment really helped me understand the blending and consistency of them.

Reflection:

Its always nice to go back to the basics. Mixing all three techniques we worked on the past weeks was exciting. Creating watercolor sunsets defenitely added to my knowledge.

Grade: 8/10

41

ASSIGNMENTS

Reflection:

I think watercoloring trees was my favorite activity in this course. I love blending the colors and different shades.

Grade:

42

Reflection:

Using monochrome style in watercolor was very creative to me. I really like the idea of the painting and how random it looks. The house was very basic, however I was able to give it a haunted effect for uniqueness.

Grade: 9.5/10

CLASSWORK 45
7 LA ROMA DRAWINGS, MAIN AND DETAIL

CLASSWORK

So far, trees were the most interesting thing to composition in this course. Although watercoloring them is very hard, figuring out the right meduim and colors will perfect them.

46

Reflection:

This was a very fun activity. Although the TA’s told us it was free hand and we shouldn’t focus on details, I should have put more effort. Grade:

WEEK 8 MARKERS CLASSWORK PRACTICE SHEETS MARKERS WITH TREES AND BUIDLINGS ASSIGNMENTS 49

CLASSWORK

50

Reflection:

Using something new is always scary, but exciting. I like the effect markers give and how fast their use is. Grade: 8/10

51

ASSIGNMENTS

9/10 52
Reflection: These sheets helped me exercise my skills with markers which definitly improved. Grade:

Reflection:

Doing trees with markers was so fun since it is very fast to make but still looks as good as any meduim we used before. I struggle alittle with skies but I focused on the main building.

Grade: 9/10

INK PENS AND SHADING CLASSWORK

WEEK 9
55
56

Reflection:

Going back to ink exercises was a good refresher for the final and midterm. Also, watching my progress with straight lines and hatching techniques is very impressive.

MIDTERM WEEK

59

As much as this week was stressful, it was very thrilling. I think one thing I would change in my midterm project is instead of putting so muh effort on the story,I would focus more on the content. I feel like I could have way better use of the meduims with better time management. However, it defenitely improved my skills and showed me skills I didn’t know I have.

WEEK 10

CONCEPT OF A BUILDING

63

ASSIGNMENTS

Reflection: This assignment was very interesting and I liked how there was free room for my ideas. I decided to make the concept of the building instead of the story which is what I connected to more.

Grading Feedback: Great understanding of the assignment, excellent use of colors. Grade: 9.5/10

WEEK 11

WORK ON FINAL PROJECT

67

FIRST SUBMISSION OUTLINES

Reflection:

In the first submission, I wanted to make sure to cover as much outlines as I can because that’s what was important. Then I tried to render anything just to give them an idea of how the rendering will be. The final porject was by far the most exciting since we had enough time to work and with no stress.

Grading Feedback:

Dr. Haroon told me to make sure every part of the bridge includes its depth. Also, for the red bridge, Dr. Dareen made sure that i add the bricks of the bridge for more defention and to add shades and reflections for the water.

WEEK 12

Reflection:

I am very proud of myself for being able to finish this project with good outcomes. The level of detail I am able to put into drawings now is underscribable. I made sure to be very precise with my lines even though it took me time to make them this straight. However, rendering was very fun and I liked the diversity of colors with every drawing. This course was an amazing experience and proved to me I am in the right major.

75

Reflection:

I made the first sketch in 10 minutes which shows great improvement. Improved shading and line techniques. Using ink, I created random urban buildings.

77

Reflection:

Practicing shading was very important to create contrast and mirroring. Shading figures helps with buildings and determining the light and dark spots, also the hard and soft ones.

78
79

Reflection:

These sketches primarily concentrated on the shading and color contrast of the pencils. Even though the proportions might not be accurate, I wanted to challenge myself by creating realistic hands, and it succeeded. Additionally, I thought it was great to draw everyone from a single point of view.

80

Reflection:

I wanted to challenge myself to draw my room so I went for it. I think the main issue here is that I put so much shading and highlight on the chair forgetting the rest of the room. However, it was fun to see what I was able to do at this stage of the course.
