BAHRAIN HISTORY
Stories passed on from the time of the Sumerians mentioned a settlement in the deserts of the Middle East - an oasis of life flowing with sweet water springs.
It has been suggested that the legendary verdant island may have been the inspiration for the Garden of Eden, described as “Paradise” in the world’s oldest poetic sagaThe Epic of Gilgamesh. “The Sacred Land” or the “Land of Eternal Life”, previously known as ‘Dilmun’, is now known as the Kingdom of Bahrain.
Early explorers also knew Bahrain as the “Island of a million palm trees”. At least twenty-three varieties of dates were grown on the Island and the leaves, branches, buds and flowers of the date palm were all used extensively. As a result of this bounty, Bahrain had its first natural export.
Only Bahrain can claim a truly integral connection with the sweet-water springs that bubble off-shore, water which first attracted explorers over 2000 years ago. The numerous settlements throughout the millennia can now be seen in the rich archaeological sites around the Island. The springs also encouraged the most lustrous of pearls – the trade which helped build the Island’s early fortunes.
One of the most notable features of the archaeological heritage of Bahrain are the numerous burial mounds, sometime labeled as the world’s largest ancient cemetery, which are scattered over a wide area of Bahrain.
Despite modernization and a cosmopolitan outlook, Bahrain is a unique land with fascinating culture that spans many centuries. A sense of history is tangible even today when you explore the Island’s imposing forts and atmospheric streets, or stroll through its bustling market areas and admire its many magnificent examples of Islamic architecture. While you explore, you are sure to come across another of Bahrain’s most traditional and attractive characteristics – its people, who are among the most welcoming, easy going, friendly and courteous you will meet anywhere in the Arabian Gulf.

at the Bahrain International Circuit (BIC), renowned as the first “Home of Motorsport in the Middle East,” the 2025 Grand Prix serves as the fourth round of the 2025 FIA F1 World Championship.
BIC is putting on a spectacular show not only on the track but also off it. Known for delivering top-tier entertainment

True to this year’s slogan, “The Desert Never Sleeps,” the energy will be nonstop.
One of the new highlights for 2025 is the Bahraini Village — an immersive cultural experience located near the Bahrain International Karting Circuit (BIKC). Open all weekend, this village invites visitors to explore Bahrain’s rich culture and heritage through traditional crafts such as dhow building, henna artistry, basket weaving, pottery, and more. Local delicacies, a sharbat stand, and popular treats from Showaiter will give guests a true taste of Bahraini hospitality.
For those seeking premium experiences, exclusive hospitality options like the Paddock Club, Champions Club, Corporate Lounges, and The Dome by F1 Experiences offer unrivaled views and luxury amenities. The Dome features a dedicated grandstand with comfortable seating along the Main Straight, excellent vantage points of the pit lane and podium, gourmet food, and refreshments.
Family-friendly fun is also a major part of the festivities. Returning favorites include the Ferris wheel, the worldrenowned Circus Cortex with its jaw-dropping acrobatics, and the Kids Race Fest,
featuring beloved characters like Sonic the Hedgehog, Ben 10, Popeye, and the Powerpuff Girls. Roaming entertainers and games ensure non-stop action for all ages.
The celebration extends beyond the circuit to Block 338 in Adliya, where the Beyon Money BIC Fan Village runs until April 9. The Beyon Money BIC Fan Village is a celebration of motorsport as it brings the spirit of the F1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix to the public in the heart of Bahrain’s capital. Fans can enjoy live music,
motorsport activations such as racing simulators and a giant Scalextric, an F1 show car, reaction games, Beyon Money activations, a photo booth, crafts, street performances, and more in this vibrant downtown hub.
In the lead-up to the Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix 2025, the BIC has launched a special charity auction to raise funds for the Royal Humanitarian Foundation. This initiative is part of BIC’s corporate social responsibility efforts, with the auction running until race day on April 13, 2025.
The auction features a remarkable collection of F1 memorabilia, generously donated by various F1 teams and Gulf Air. Proceeds from the auction will support the Royal Humanitarian Foundation’s humanitarian projects both in Bahrain and internationally.
Adding a heartfelt moment to the celebratory weekend, Sir Jackie Stewart, legendary three-time and eldest living F1 World Champion, will complete a tribute lap in his iconic 1973 Tyrrell car to honor F1’s 75th anniversary and support his Race Against Dementia charity. Wearing a one-of-a-kind helmet signed by all 20 living F1 World Champions, his lap will be
