Huntley was born and raised on the farm southwest of Miami. His passions were his family, his farm and his community. He was actively involved as a councillor for the RM of Thompson. Huntley was a true volunteer, president of the Miami Hall Board, Chairman of the Miami and Area Foundation and very honoured to be a founding member. He was extremely honoured to see his family embrace volunteering as he did and his parents before him.

Huntley joined the family farm in his younger years raising Hereford cattle and grains. First with his Dad, George Knox, then with Nancy, brother Jim and their children. He formed a small trucking company hauling livestock, grain, gravel and PMU. Huntley was always proud of his family and their endeavours, attending many cattle shows, hockey games, skating competitions, watching curling, ball games and many rodeos.
