CHA 25 Year Pin - Jay Rimke

Jay Rimke began his herd of Purebred Hereford cattle at a very young age. Jay’s parents, Albert and Michelle, bought him a CJHA membership when he was just a year old. To this day, Jay is very grateful that his parents got him involved in the Hereford Association.

BFL Miss Summit 41X 64C is the dam of the cow family that got Jay’s herd started. His first registration was in 1995, MAR 112C MS Cash 98E, who is the dam to one of his best cows to date, MAR 517 Ms Daisy 18G. Daisy’s show career started as Jay’s first 4-H project as a Pee Wee member. He then continued showing her at many other shows with the most memorable being Bonanza; showing her in Virden in 1999, Brandon in 2006 and Princeton, BC in 2009. At Bonanza 2006 she was named Champion Semen Donation Animal as a 9-year-old cow, along with having one of her son’s be named Champion Bred and Owned Bull. In Princeton, many breeders could not believe her age and how well she travelled. Jay also had a very successful Bonanza in 2013 being honored to receive the Major Jay Fox Ambassador Award and Senior Aggregate. Jay has also been inducted into the CJHA Honor Roll. Jay participated in 13 Bonanzas across Canada. He was also very involved in junior programs, such as semen donation. Jay was the Manitoba Delegate on the CJHA Board for three years and now currently in his third term on the MHA Board, serving as Vice President.

Along with being very active in the CJHA and CHA, Jay also participated in 4-H for 18 years. In 2015, Jay donated 100% proceeds from his 4-H Steer to STARS Air Ambulance in appreciation for saving his life in 2012. Jay is no longer a 4-H member, but continues to volunteer at locate 4-H events, judging 4-H shows and helping out on achievement day. Jay graduated from Olds College in 2015 and now lives on his family farm in Oak Lake, MB where he continues to work alongside his grandfather, father and brother raising Hereford, Angus and Commercial Cattle. Jay has his own herd of 25 cows and continues to grow that each year. Jay is passionate about the Hereford industry and is looking forward to what the future has to offer.
