MHA President’s Report - Steven Manns

In the blink of an eye it seems we have skipped over summer. Once again many fought a hard battle with Mother Nature; some have struggled through another dry growing season while others have been lucky in the rain lottery. There are some who are facing a feed shortage this year and it is at this time I become most grateful that we raise the feed efficient breed. Bonanza was another well attended junior event in Weyburn which had our Manitoba juniors mingling with old and new friends a little closer to home. The juniors represented our province well and are excited to be hosting Bonanza 2020 in Brandon.

Thank you to Batho Farms and AM Ranching for hosting the annual MHA Field Day. Despite the questionable weather at the start of the day, it was a pleasure to see so many come out, visit, laugh, and celebrate their herds. Looking forward, we have many production sales this fall. After them, I encourage breeders to join fellow Hereford breeders at our annual showing at Ag Ex in Brandon. The Good as Gold Sale and the annual meeting for the Manitoba Hereford Association will be in December.

Hope to see you down the road.

‘Till next time, Steven
