Behind the Scenes With Konza Prairie! It’s Visitors Day at Konza Prairie- a chance that only comes every other year. On September 29, visitors from far and wide have the opportunity to see the Konza Prairie Biological Station from the inside out. Known worldwide as the preeminent center for grassland research, Konza Prairie will be open from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. Docents, researchers and the Friends of Konza Prairie will be on site to give guided tours, explain studies, and offer merchandise. While most of the Konza is closed to visitors the rest of the year, a six-mile series of nature trail loops is open to the public year round from dawn to dusk. For more information, contact Konza’s Environmental Educator, Jill Haukos, at (785) 587-0381, or send an email to konzaed@ksu.edu.
