Leadership Manhattan accepting nominations Butler named to ACCE Board

The best ways to contribute within a community are as simple as finding the best match to your skillset and interests.You want to get involved, but need guidance. Maybe it’s just time to reboot and refine those leadership skills.Your professional skills are enhanced if you’ve experienced a well-established leadership development program like Leadership Manhattan. Goals • Identify potential business and community leaders • Provide Leadership Manhattan participants with an awareness of the issues and opportunities facing the community • Identify, enhance, and expand Leadership Manhattan participant’s leadership skills and techniques • Develop a forum for ongoing communication among emerging Leadership Manhattan participants and community leaders • Encourage these trained and informed leaders to increase their involvement in local community affairs by matching skills and interests to existing needs Benefits • Access to a quality leadership training program that benefits participants, their employers, and the community • Assistance to potential leaders in their development, matching their skills and

Those interested in Leadership Manhattan must submit an application with approval from the organization they represent. Candidates must have lived or worked in Manhattan for a minimum of six months prior to application deadline. A selection committee will review the applications and select a potential class of between 12 and 20. Class selection is based on past and present community involvement, and willingness to serve in future leadership roles. Participants will represent a cross section of the community, and attendance at all sessions is required. Application process: Begins with submission of a nomination form (self-nominated or by another). Nomination forms available at Manhattan.org/leadershipmanhattan. Tuition: $700 each participant (non-refundable, non-transferable, due Dec. 16). Checks payable to Manhattan Area Chamber of Commerce. Leadership Manhattan is a program of ADVANTAGE MANHATTAN.

Manhattan Area Chamber of Commerce President/CEO Lyle Butler has been selected as an atlarge board member of the Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives. This is a tremendous distinction and noteworthy accolade that draws attention to strong Manhattan Chamber leadership. ACCE serves 7,500 chamber professionals and 1,300 chambers of commerce. Butler is one of six two-year chair appointments. ACCE was formed in 1914 and offers resources, industry information and data, professional development and best-practice sharing through an annual convention and topical conferences. ACCE helps chambers of commerce and the people who manage them make a difference in the communities they serve. Join us to congratulate Lyle Butler on this splendid and well-deserved merit.
