…to be a part of thriving leadership development program dedicated “to ensuring the vitality of our community by providing a continuous source of motivated leaders who are educated about the community, its challenges and opportunities, as well as trained and inspired to assume leadership roles in the Manhattan community at all levels.” Program Details
Goals • To identify and motivate potential business and community leaders • To provide these potential leaders with an awareness of the issues and opportunities facing the community • To expand and sharpen their leadership skills and techniques • To develop a forum for ongoing communication among emerging and established leaders • To encourage these trained and informed leaders to increase their involvement in local community affairs by matching skills and interests to existing needs
Benefits • Access to a quality leadership training program that benefits the participants, their employers, and the community
• Assistance to potential leaders in their development, matching their skills and interests with the needs of the community • An improved communications network among civic, business, social and educational leaders in the Manhattan area • A leadership base with a broadened perspective to more effectively guide the community into its future
Candidates Each individual interested in participating in Leadership Manhattan must submit an application with the approval of the organization they represent. Candidates must live or work in Manhattan. A selection committee will review the information received and select 16 individuals to participate based on past and present community involvement and willingness to serve in future leadership roles. The participants will represent a cross section of the community. Attendance at all sessions is required by all participants. If you know one or more people with leadership skills and interests, please nominate them by completing the nomination form available at the Leadership Manhattan website listed above. Tuition Tuition for Leadership Manhattan is $475 for each participant. Tuition is nonrefundable, non-transferable and due December 3, 2012. Checks should be made payable to the Manhattan Area Chamber of Commerce.
